IdriveAtoB
Hi All A total noob question but would I be able to start my 55 plate Ford Focus if the Fob battery was dead? I left in a garage while overseas for a few months and when I got back I panicked 'a little' as the Fob "appeared" to be dead so I unlocked door manually and put key into ignition and it started anyway which is why I raise the above question (I don't have a spare fob). I have no idea the security measures employed by Fobs. Many thanks
dezwez
The battery inside the fob is only there for the door locking you will always be able to unlock with the key and it will always start with that key the key has a coded chip inside it that's what make it start so don't lose your keys as ford will charge you a fortune to replace
IdriveAtoB
So inside the key is like an RFID 'thingumy' so doesn't need power .. that's a relief. Thanks :)
