Oh dear sorry to hear that - in that case all I can suggest is a visit to the stealers as it is a system file that is not working

Sadly the Ford dealer 'insider's that EU 4 14 is the latest even though I know they are not. So little use there.

Don't suppose anyone has a download link for the F8 maps?

Dont hold your breath.

If you haven't been offered F8 via Ford website (although if your vehicle is MY17/18 I would have thought you would) you will probably have to wait until 2020 for the F9 maps like loads of us who bought new vehicles recently and are stuck with F7 now almost 3 years old.

There are a few F8 update discussions on the Kuga Owners Club forum ... https://www.kugaownersclub.co.uk/forum/30-mk2-general-discussion/14279-sync-3-latest-map-update-41.html

Maybe an active F8 download link on there! I've not checked.

You can also see the utter common frustration with Sync3 and Map updates!

The original F8 update download I used at ... http://ivsu.eubinaries.ford.com/owner-package/10200162383365587409/Map_25017363174_Update.zip ... is no longer available (and that was direct from the Ford update server).

If they say EU 4 14 is the latest, they are either lying, can't be bothered or are just not interested in the product or customers they deal with. Take your custom to another Ford dealer!

ver 4 14 is definitely not the latest - I am waiting to try uploading the software I downloaded from Ford the other day which should be the latest version (I hope)

I've got the zip file for mine - if you send me your email address I'll try attaching it (nearly 3GB so may be too big to e-mail)

OR

send me an empty formatted exFAT USB stick and I'll load it up for you

The zip files for the F8 update is 24GB ...

The zip for the map on its own (without the voice, gracenote, etc) is 16GB ...

Not sure what your looking at that's only 3GB!

Well spotted I was looking at the SYNC3 update folder NOT the map package - offer still stands :surrender:

This is what I have now managed to get hold of
Not installed it yet!

I've got a similar list of files but a lot smaller (has it been tailored to my car by Ford?)

Have a look at one of my earlier posts where I describe the file part numbers and what they do.The first part is the system (i.e. JR3T), the middle part is the application (i.e. 14G381) and the last part (i.e. AR) is the revision level.

These are:

GB5T-14G386-AB ... creates the xml log file for uploading back tot he update website

HB5T-14G386-THJ ... NOT SURE, I've never had this one yet!

HB5T-14G386-TCB .. checks to see if the nav option is fitted

HB5T-14G386-THA ... checks the model of the car for hardware compatibility

HB5T-14G387-AAB .. uninstalls update overlays (popup screens, etc)

JR3T-14G381 ... apps

JR3T-14G391 .... general Sync voice files

JR3T-14G423 ... gracenote

So, these are all prerequisites or general updates, but alas no maps for you in this one!

FYI ...

F7 maps are JR3T-14G421-BC

F8 maps are JR3T-14G421-BD

and JR3T-14G422-BD (-BD is my latest) is the voice files specifically for navigation

All successfully installed, I'm now u to F8

In my case the software and gracenote were already up to date, so it probably just used the maps files.

@BigBollooks like I might need to borrow yours

Can you post a list of the .zip contents (as recent posts) so we can see what's in that download. Thanks!

Would be interested to know what JR3T-14G424-BD.tar.gz is!

contains 2 files license.txt and version.der, the license.txt just has JR3T-14G421-BD in the content and the der file is an encrypted security certificate

Thanks to @BigBol :clapping:I now have a properly updated F8 map set - took a long time and had to bypass Frd's so-called update service but I got there - what a pfaff on such a "high end" car - Ford you should be ashamed of yourselves:bangin:

They are very expensive hand made badges from the US I'll send you the link if you want :nopity:

Yes that would be good, I'm sure the folks in Brand Protection (here and in the US) would be happy to give them a call.

Finally got updated to F8 via Fords sync update, trouble is it never created a log file, is there anyway around this problem ? Im sure until you upload this file you will not get any further updates.

If you look on the Ford update website help page you can download the log file on its own

Its on the bottom of the download page, took me a while to find it as it doesn't really stand out and its collapsed by default, so just click the down arrow on the far right of Troubleshooting ...
