HOW TO Retrofit genuine parking sensors to MK3+MK3.5 Focus

Featured Replies

Does anybody know the part number for the cable (Harness Loom) that goes from the engine bay to the rear of the car? Having trouble to find one. Much obliged for the help!

The driver still needs to use the accelerator and brake, plus gear select but the car will steer itself into the gap. If you use automated parking the car will tell you when to select ‘reverse’ or ‘fi

Hi,
I have all of the cables, sensord and module connected but I don't know how to activate it with froscan. Guide in the first page isn't really helpful either. I have Focus MK3.5 but with Sync2 (Focus RS). I searched the whole thread but I can't really find any guides how to activate everything in this case.

Thank you in advance and happy new year!

You'll need to change the 2 options that Bannko mentions on page 1; the wheel sensors and the parking assist. They can be changed within the Focccus software, which is probably easier but if you want to change them within Forscan, then the options will be in the 'BCM main'.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I understand this part, but correct me if I'm wrong- this will only activate the chime but not the small car picture on the sync screen, is that right? I ask because Bannko on the first page wheh it comes to sync2 activation says "here i must do some research first not sure what we have to change as i have not used Forscan for this".

Once I enabled mine, the car picture would show up on my sync2 screen either, when I put the car in reverse or when I press the button.

I don't remember changing any options within my Sync module. I think it just appeared. You could have a look in forscan for any options within the APIM for parking pilot.

Also, make the same changes that you made in the BCM module, in the IPC module.

Thank you! I'll give it a try then

So i was just re-reading this thread, it and spotted this on page 6....

APIM asbuilt - 7D0-04-02 xxxX xx.

'X' needs to be 3.

Has anyone mamaged to do this on the 2017 MK3.5 ST3? I have the 6 sensors already fitted to the front and rear. Will it work on the st with the less tight turn radius?

Hey. I have Focus ST MK3.5 2016. I have installed required sensors to make 12 in total, proper buttons installed in the central console, ASB sensors changed and F1ET-15K866-BJ PAM module installed.

I was able to configure APIM to show all 12 sensors (flank guard), however, I never managed to enable Active Parking Assist at all. It simply does not react on buttons, no message on Sync 3, no chimes, no errors in ForScan.

Hi, I've finally tried to do it. So right after connecting the module and wires I had the chime without doing anything else. Focccus didn't work for me so I changed this option with forscan (I have rear sensors only). I can't find anything parking assistance related in the IPC module though. I thought it might be the chime activation only because most of the options are about chimes there but I'm not sure. So I was kind of expecting it may start to work without this one but I still can't see any visualisation. Is it because I still need to change something in IPC or like OP mentiond - it may take some days to appear?

Thank you

I have a Focus Mk3 2011 (Pre facelift), and have no button on the dash (on the right hand side).
I have managed to pry the blanking vent out, so buttons could be installed, but was hoping I could feel the loom and find the plug to connect to the parking buttons.

Sadly, not the case.

Does anybody have any photos/videos/guides that might assist in me locating the plug, or removing whatever is needed from the dash, so I can check the loom?

Thinking worst case scenario, that there is no plug behind the dash at all - how much of a ball ache is it to replace that particular loom?

Give it up now. There is no hidden loom, the work involved is not just a 5 minute thing and it is certainly not Plug 'n' Play.

Thanks, but already found the hidden loom which doesn't exist 👍

Little red plug tucked inside the rear of the fascia. Plugged the button in and it's working.

I've got a Mk3 2011 Focus, and had all the wiring present for front and rear parking sensors (no sensors installed from factory).

Got the switch installed and lighting up as mentioned above.

I bought and fitted a Parking Assist Module (BM5T-15K866-BM) and also fitted the rear bumper loom with sensors, and front bumper loom with sensors (this loom also has the fog light plugs, which was needed since I already had fog lights installed.

Then I installed the automated park button, and the parking sensor button in the dash.

Now for the ForScan stuff

I opened the BCMii Central Config (Main) and changed the Parking Assist line from "Without Assistance" to "With Assistance Front and Rear", and also changed the ABS Sensor to "With Direction" (also changed out the ABS Sensor to the correct yellow ones.

Then I do the ABS Reinitialise.

All goes well, but the DTC sometimes shows that the side front sensors are not plugged in (there are 6 installed, DTC shows the main 4 front sensors, and the 4 rear sensors connected without issues).

It also shows U2101 - Control Module Configuration Incompatible

If I put the gearstick into Reverse, it chimes at me, and the screen (the older smaller non Sync screen) shows "Park Pilot" and has a red circle with strikethrough over the rear and front sensor spaces - sometimes I get a warning on the dash saying "Parking Aid Malfunction - Service Required"

Any thoughts on where to go from here?

The whole U2101 on ForScan is the thing that is bugging me....

The whole U2101 on ForScan is the thing that is bugging me....

Sorted it.

Checked for continuity from the PAM in the boot, to the sensor plug in the front....no continuity.
So then checked continuity from PAM to BCM plug under glove box....everything checked out fine.
Then checked continuity from sensor plug in front bumper, to corresponding coloured cable on BCM plug....nothing.

Then noticed the colours in the new front bumper loom, don't match the colours in the engine bay plug.

So I rewired all of the wires in the new loom to match those in the engine bay loom.

Plugged everything back in, and had a 'beeeeeeeep' come from the car - the sensors were working 🙂
Well...all except one of them. So I put a 12K resistor across the plug for that sensor, and everything working fine now.

Now I just need to get a replacement sensor, put the glove box back together, and then start drilling holes in my bumpers, as well as find some silver retainers for the front sensors.
