HOW TO Retrofit genuine parking sensors to MK3+MK3.5 Focus

Featured Replies

BLIS is not a straight upgrade if the hardware is not there. You would need laser units, mirrors and then if the door modules are not compatible you would need to upgrade/replace them. All expensive bits.

There are many posts on the looms for PDC. I know this is a long thread, but you really do need to read it from the beginning else there will be things missed that will cause problems. The PDC upgrade is a relatively simple one but not without problems if things are missed.

The driver still needs to use the accelerator and brake, plus gear select but the car will steer itself into the gap. If you use automated parking the car will tell you when to select ‘reverse’ or ‘fi

with the PDC looms there are many out there does it matter which loom i take it it does not matter which part number the loom is

My car is the focus estate and I picked up the loom for the saloon. It was just a little tight in length, but apart from that it was fine.

Like @Steevo25said, unfortunately you have to read and re-read the thread and filter out the useful info. If you were really organised, you could copy and paste out all the useful info.

Hi i purchased module BM5T-15K866-AK it has all 3 plugs on the module do i have to plug in for front i have all 3 looms there but dont want front and do not have front sensors, or shall i leave it unplugged?

Regards

If you haven't got the front sensors then I wouldn't of thought it would make any difference if you plug it in or not.

And i dont need the switch just for reverse sensors

I'm not sure about that. My car came with aftermarket rear sensors and module which tapped into the reverse light, so I had no switch.

I upgraded and fitted the ford module and sensor in the front and rear and I had to add the switch and the wiring for it. It activates automatically when I put it in reverse, but I can also activate it by pressing the switch.

The system seems a little bit sensitive. For example, if there's a problem with one sensor, it gives the malfunction warning and turns the system off. I've got a feeling, if it detects no switch, then it wont work.

If you have any module where the part number ends in -A?. Then it is a rear sensor only module. Although there is a plug on it that's fits the front sensor loom, it doesn't do anything whether you plug it in or not.

No switch will be required if you only have rear sensors for a MK3 module.

Does anyone know if the clips and brackets are the same on the focus mk2.5 and kuga mk1

Hello, sorry for my english i'm french, i want add on my focus mk3 (2012) front parking sensors, i check and i have loom for that in the front of my car, so i want to know, if i can have park assist, i already have 4 sensors on the back.

Your English will 100% better than my French!!

If you have the sensors in the back, and they are factory fitted (not aftermarket), then I believe you'll need to change the Module, change the rear abs sensors, add the switch and enable it.

Thank you ! And i want to know, wich module  i must take ? And the front sensor, if i take them on aliexpress its good you think ?

I think the module serial number ends with two letters and the first of the two letters has to be a 'B'. If it's an 'A' (which the one you have at the moment should be) then this wont work for park assist.

I'm not sure about the Aliexpress ones. I got my colour matched front sensors, clips and wiring harness on Ebay.

I take it the loom doesnt matter which one is is as long its 3 pin for the 3 pin sensors

You can buy the sensors  from AliExpress, the 4 inner ones are 29db

the 2 outer ones are 36db for the module you need BM5T-15K866-BR also you have to add the the tow switches

The loom does matter. You cannot just get any bumper loom. You need to get one that has the features of your car. For example, if your car has front fog lights, then the loom must also have the wiring for front fog lights.

You will also need to check the loom against your original loom. When I got my front loom, I found some of the pins in the connector were in a different place and I had to move them.

There’s two types of sensors(depending where they come from(mk3 or mk3.5) mine comes from a rear mk3.5 with 6 sensors witch i have modified this is the list of what i  used from AliExpress,

I wonder how it'll be before you start looking at adding the front sensors so the car can park itself!!!

And my Kuga mk2 titanium hasnt got any extra wires/looms would of added a lot more too it i done power liftgate and had to make the looms from old ebay looms.... would love to add memory seats and heated front seats and xenon headlights but lack of looms to much hassle as i found out on power tailgate

How come some cars come with every loom so you can just plug and play ...?

the focus is zetec and has every loom there my Kuga Titanium has no extra looms.... Damn !!!

Good Morning all, i amin process of adding front sensors but thats a few months off, however just picked up a 6 sensor rear bumper and planning on swapping over my 4 sensor bumper with it, is there anything i need to change on forscan or can i just swap them over at the moment until i have sorted the front sensors? i am presuming that the 6 sensor loom will just carry on acting as a 4 sensor?

I would say just swap over

dont think you need to activate from 4 to 6 the module would take care of that...

When you say you are replacing a 4 sensor rear bumper with a 6 sensor rear bumper, are you replacing the rear bumper loom?

The module will act as a 4 sensor system until you change the settings. Depending on the module you currently have installed, it may not be capable of doing more than 4 sensors.

Either way, just putting 6 sensors on the back will still continue operating as a 4 sensor system until you tell it otherwise using Forscan, UCDS or such like.

Thanks that's the answer I needed as i want swap it over this weekend so i can get rid of the old bumper,

yes bumper has the loom included with keyless entry like mine and sensors are all attached it's a straight swap over as same colour too, module I have in boot at moment is rear only but i have the active park ready to go in once I get the front sorted in few months. Happy that it will function as a 4 in meantime.

When you do want to move to 6 rear sensors, you will also have to replace the loom that goes from the PDC module to the rear bumper as if it came from the factory with 4 rear sensors, then sensors 5 and 6 won't be wired. You could just add the 2 extra wires.
