HOW TO Retrofit genuine parking sensors to MK3+MK3.5 Focus

Featured Replies

Has anyone mamaged to do this on the 2017 MK3.5 ST3? I have the 6 sensors already fitted to the front and rear. Will it work on the st with the less tight turn radius?

The driver still needs to use the accelerator and brake, plus gear select but the car will steer itself into the gap. If you use automated parking the car will tell you when to select ‘reverse’ or ‘fi

i bought 2 damaged sets to make one good set, the plastic plugs are for the fog lights and you can swap them over easily enough

still waiting fo an opportunity to remove the bumper and fit mine though, plus, in the mean time my wife has "lost" my newly purchased lead i used to forscan, so maybe she's found out...

Hello, replaced RP3 with Sony RP86, installed GPS antenna. Navigation works without voice (I found out about two cables from the display to the CD - I will install it), the display shows the temperature from the climatronic, bluetooth and USB are working, but the parking sensors are not shown. I haven't changed anything in the configuration. Has anyone faced such a problem.

Hello, I installed the module, the sensors and again an error.

Since you have installed a PAM, I assume you did not have rear sensors before. The PAM is rear sensors only.

That error means it either cannot talk to the rear sensors (wiring fault or faulty sensor), or the module is faulty.

How can I check the sensors

When they are activated you should hear a clicking coming from the sensor if you put your ear close to them. No click means the sensor is not activated. You can check the wiring with a continuity tester between sensors and PAM.

Also, of you read the DTCs, it should say if it is not talking to a sensor.

Hi,

I also looked in my trunk and found these 2 connectors. They are neither yellow or black as specified in the initial post. Can someone help me understand what these are? I'm looking to install only rear parking sensors, don't care about anything else. Model is a 2011.

I'm hoping that one of the 2 connectors inside are for the parking module and the one underneath the vehicle is where I should plug the sensors. Please tell me this is correct and I can proceed buying the following:

- sensors

- the support for the sensors

- the parking module

the grey one is for the reversing camera

can't say anything about the rest, but the one under the car is where they plug in, assuming it's the 12 pin version yes?

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions.

I have a mk3 2011 focus titanium pre facelift with 4 rear sensors. I would like to fit active park assist (where the steering wheel moves itsself). Is this available on the pre-facelift or do I need mk3.5 hardware ?

If it is available then:

How many sensors do I need to fit to the front ? 4 or 6 ?

Do I need to change the park assist module in the boot or just enable something in forscan ?

Is there anything else I'm missing ?

Thanks for any help!

Henry Ford was just asking the exact same question the other day, he's wanting to fit 'Self Park' and 'Adaptive cruise control' to his Model T 🤣

Normally you can add both front and semi automated parking aid since you have the appropriate hardware(module,6 sensors with their brackets, wiring loom and the two consol buttons) Forscan,Focccus or UCDS with appropriate adapter for programming.

Have a look at first post.

On the MK3, there are 4 sensors on the back. If you see additional connectors then they are for the BLIS radar units.

The MK3.5 has 6 sensors on the back (early ones had 4). This enables bay parking as well as parallel parking.

You can put 6 on the back of a MK3 and also get bay parking, but you would have to replace the PAM module with one from a MK3.5 that supports it. You would then have to set the PDC architecture to CGEA on the APIM instead of C1MCA using Forscan. Not a Ford supported configuration, but it does work.

Hi, Could you explain how to change the configuration ? Would it break anything on my MK3 2011 ?

I am interested in some software called openpilot and it only supports communicating with Ford CGEA vehicles via CAN (like the MK4 focus). I was wondering if I changed the PDC configuration if it would then work.

Thanks

Would a jaguar module do the same as ford and jag and landrover are in we each other

If you type PDC 15K866 into ebay you see lots of Ford, Landrover and Jaguar

The hardware is the same but the firmware is different.

I don't know if or how you change the firmware.

Cheers pal

also what is the smaller plug in my pic it was next to pdc plug

also would the facelift model be ok on the prefacelift F1ET- instead of BM5T-

EDIT : Module not model

If you have a look on page 5 of this thread, I think @Tommo17 identifies this plug as part of the BLIS system.

Also, I think somewhere in this thread, using the facelift module is covered and with the facelift module you can have the 6 rear sensors.

What is BLIS system?

ah so face lift has 6 sensors on rear? on on the front?

BLIS is Blind Spot Information System. Shows an LED in you side mirrors if a another car is in your blind spot.

Face lift (MK3.5) has 6 sensors on the rear so you have parallel and perpendicular parking.

Everything is covered in this thread in great detail.

ok cheers mate

so if i upgrade my mirrors im good to go i have forscan and have written stuff to ecu before

with the PDC looms there are many out there does it matter which loom i take it it does not matter which part number the loom is
