Justin Williams Posted May 5, 2019 Share Posted May 5, 2019 My car was parked on a hill with handbrake on for about 15 minutes before it started to roll slowly backwards, has anybody had anything likw this happen to them? Luke4efc Posted May 5, 2019 Share Posted May 5, 2019 If you were braking quite a lot/quite harsh before you parked (and not giving enough time for the dics to cool down gradually), then it's possible they contracted and moved away from the pads slightly causing the discs to slip. Handbrakes are pretty crap nowadays (especially on discs). Unless I'm on a flat surface, I always leave my car in gear. 1 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

WES180 Posted May 6, 2019 Share Posted May 6, 2019 I remember hearing a car alarm outside my mum and dad's house years back, I looked out of the window and it was my car in the middle of the road! The handbrake hadn't held and it had rolled down the steep drive, through the gates and stopped on the road. I can't believe it didn't hit anything on the way out.
