I’m trying to trace my old car. Mk1 1974 5 door ford escort. First reg in April 1974. Olympic Blue. Last taxed in 1995 which was when I sold it. Would love to know what happened to it. Was nicknamed the chrome machine!

Highly unlikely to have been laid up for 24 years tbh.
I'd say it's either swiss cheese, parted for a kit car or in a museum somewhere.

I'm guessing you don't know the reg?  DVLA does go back a long way.

DVLA won't give general public any details since the GPDR thing.  I guess you could claim to be a private parking company though... :whistling:

Do you remember where the next owner lived roughly?  If it stayed on the East Coast, there's a good chance someone on the East Coast Retro Facebook group may know where it is or what happened to it.  I assume you know the reg or some distinguishing features though, just the colour probably isn't going to be enough info.

You can still get not and tax history.  Askmid will show current insurance. So at least you'd know if it was still on the roads in the UK

It's worth looking on howmanyleft.com too just for the numbers.
