Searching addresses often crashes, it just doesn't return a result.

Some of the graphics/icons don't line up properly or are the wrong aspect ratio as we haven't found all the correct files publically (or Ford are still working on them), so it's a mix of 3.3 and 3.4.

It should be noted that if you are already on 3.3, the instructions in the OP are not necessary, you can just use the normal autoinstall.lst procedure and "update" to 3.4.

It should also be noted that if you are on 3.0 (or older) it is a one way procedure, once you use the reformat utility, you can't go back to 3.0, the oldest you can go back to is 3.3. I've no idea what will happen with the official Ford offered updates as you'll no longer be on the correct software branch or Map packages. You may have to manually update from then on, unless you ask a Ford dealer to wipe and reprogram your APIM to 3.0 with IDS.

You also need to use Forscan to modify your APIM config to enable DAB logos, if you want all the features of 3.3/3.4.

These utilities also bypass the usual checks, so you could end up loading a system on to hardware which has insufficient memory/storage.

Ah, does 3.3 look similar? I've been stuck on 3.0.something for a while so it's a big improvement for me.

@Luke_Anderson Yes, it's just like the auto install file - the names in the list have to exactly match the actual file names.

It also has selectable backgrounds (a choice of 4 for each day and night)

Getting rid of the (imo) awful sky blue background was a big plus just going from 3.0 to 3.3 for me.

Hm. I am now finding some issues with voice commands. Asking the nav to "find an address" is just ignored. That's a bit annoying.

Nav itself works fine though, and updates more frequently than before.

So the difference between 3.3 and 3.4 is just the theme, more or less?

Think I might try this one on my spare APIM.

Various reports of it being buggy on a few forums.

Matt

I’m gonna hold off for now, as much as I want to have a play about I can’t go back. Unless Alex can tell us how to revert to 3.3? Is 3.3 stable on a apim updated from 3.0?

Those noticing buggy bits, have you done a master reset? A couple of people I have spoke to reported that sorted most issues out.

Matt

In fairness, no I haven't. I did notice that the tutorial suggested it so that's the next thing to try.

EDIT: No difference.

Tried my nav by voice on the way home and work fine and i tried radio, dab so up to yet i have not found 1 bug (fingers crossed) but i did do the 14 files upgrade 18.2 gig

Hmm might have to do that...

Just a case of a SyncMyRide folder and an autoinstall.lst file now that I'm on >3.3 do you think?

EDIT:::: All the links in the tutorial have now been fixed and the poster has tested the files by reflashing their own car, apparently with success.  I'll report back once I have tried it.

Ok, so reflashing the system with the files now linked in the tutorial sorted out the problem with nav voice commands for me.

Now though, When I say "find an address", the system asks me to spell the first few letters of the town I want, then shows me a list of matching towns which are clearly not in the UK!  It does suggest that I can "Change Country" and when I do, it reverts to the process as it used to be on 3.0, but I dont want to have to do this every time I search.

I would guess that this is either because there was more than one map file installed, or there is a 'default country' setting somewhere I've missed.

@Tezza - You installed all of map files didn't you?  Are you having this problem as well?  If I can identify which fike is UK maps only, I will reflash the system with just that map file to see if that rectifies that problem.

Other than that, it appears that the bugs have been squished...

EDIT:: The original poster of that tutorial now has uploaded an all-in-one method for all maps.

I know i sent you the refomat.lst as i though you was going to install the same as me , as i took the files from the Russian site that had the most success, yes i did all the map files and when i tested voice control i tried post code. said my postcode and it recognize'd   my command and loaded and took me home from work spot on  i even asked it to set my temp to 26.5 and it did

Yes, I can give it a postcode on mine too - not a lot of help for getting home as I live in a new development!

It generally recognises addresses, but on 3.0 if you press the voice button and say "find an address" it then asked you for a house number, street and town in the UK.

It doesn't do that now and just asks to spell out the first few letters of the town.  Odd thing is that the resultant list to choose from is all clearly non UK towns, despite the map files used being UK only!  To get it to do what it used to, I now have to say "change country", THEN it will ask for a number, street and town.

I've left a comment on the page - the OP has been really helpful up to now

I've also put together the set of files that you used Tezza, according to your reformat file, less the EU maps.  I'll give that a crack as well and see what's what.  It seems you can flash this multiple times, but it is advisable to use the utility (1st usb stick) and a reformat.lst file (rather than just an autoupdate.lst like usual) to ensure that the install is clean.

This is what happens when i say the comand

Thanks Tezza, this is what mine used to do.

This is what it does now:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/13o7T9at9yzDADv05gyGa0UgrdjaeE_76/view?usp=drivesdk

I notice some of the files you used have different suffixes, eg AP instead of AJ. If this denotes a later version, maybe that's the problem.

Anyway I'm going to download your set of files and reflash tomorrow and see what happens.  I also notice you didn't flash the licence file - I'm guessing this is for future updates and not critical.

I should end up exactly where you are...?

I have been following this topic on the Rusian and German forums and thought you needed Forscan or similar to do this upgrade, but are you saying you dont?

I shall watch this thread with interest, to see how you guys get on and get things running smoothly.

Cheers for the advice so far . . .  keep up the good work.

So to clarify this is a none official update.  That gives the Russians access to your cars location and microphone. Or is that just me being paranoid haha

So Phil I did the update and mine does the same as yours with regards to the nav voice control

Yeah, I'm going to try tezzas set of files today and see if that sorts it (it should). If so I'll post a step by step.

The tutorial above has now got an all in one download for installing all the maps, but I don't know exactly which versions of the files were included. It may solve the problem; it may not.

I will post back when I've reflashed.

just downloading the all in one file, hopefully ill get round to trying it this afternoon.

Matt

I did the all in one file and it has the same issue as Phil. Also noticed that I can’t seem to get rid of the climate from the sync? I knew I should have stuck with what I had 😂
