Was just messing around looking at insurance quotes for a 2014 audi RS6. For a 21 year old with hopefully 4 years no claims living in London I'm quoted around £5000 😭. I then said I was 26 with 9 years nc and it went down to £1600. Not too bad 😊. Hope I can afford something like this then.

Living in deepest, darkest Hampshire, I can get a quote on the RS with 3 years NCD for £1000, a MK2 ST comes in at £900 which is only £150 more than my 1.6 😂.

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

My mum had a Sony system from the mid-80's.

Sat virtually unused for years! Turned on again about 3 years ago - sounded awesome! (Even just regular radio).

Unfortunately, about 10 minutes later there was a fizz-crackle-pop and the distinct smell of electrical bits burning.

I suspect that the solder had dried out and was arcing...it was over 30 years old!

That's the problem when they go for so long unused.

Admittedly my Kenwood occasionally cuts out when you play it at a rather high volume and I think the amplifier may need some maintenance...  Thankfully I usually play my Roy Orbison records at a reasonable volume but occasionally I would like to play them slightly louder and it doesn't like that too much!

Focus grid lockout!

I do like getting the second wardrobe unit fitted,

Having bought the original 75cm wide PAX unit in IKEA last Friday; it got damaged yesterday prior to assembling; few posts about that in the "Things I like" thread

But we picked up a replacement thismorning and it's now fitted and secured to the wall perfectly level 175cm wide with enough space for the bunk beds too:

I'll assemble all interior items and doors next weekend.

That's exactly what the wife says; following a sharp intake and release of breath

All this to do for the inside then the doors can go on some time Sunday morning.

I'm daft like that too. I was due to tile my kitchen diner the next day but I got myself that stressed about doing it and the layout/starting point that I couldn't sleep. I gave up trying to sleep at 3am so I got up, by 4am I had my layout plan, it was all set to go so I thought well I'm here now so I might as well start. By the time my wife got up it was a third done and then finished by 2pm. I spent the rest of the day destroyed on the settee!!!😀

I started nodding off around 05:20 got two drawers done before falling asleep on the chair; as Meat Loaf says "two outta three ain't bad" so I went to bed and got up at 07:30 doing third one now,

Fair play mate that really is dedication, I get anxious about building things and them not turning out as they should, but when the plan in your head comes to reality it makes all the effort worth while makes it easier to relax and then admire it. I'm sure your wife was very impressed with the progress,

Mine came down at 4am asking what was I doing here at that hour; I said "i came home for the rest of the new yogarts you bought for my lunch" ☺

Had I gone to bed at 4am last night I'd only be struggling to stay awake again tonight, but as I kept awake and busy until reaching the "block wall" I'll be in nights mode now for the week, I only got a few hours sleep yesterday evening from 19:00 - 21:30

all done for today 😴

I'll fit the doors on Sunday aswell as light & glass shelf for the jewellery tray; when I know the location of the door hinges 👍

Just seen this on a local FB page.  Obviously I don't like what's been done to the car...but I do like that wheel trim!!  Bumpers, door handles and filler flap totally gone but that trim's just chilling there...

Looking like its sitting on bagged air ride  suspension

Proper rat rod appearance, some round bicycle style tail lights would suit nicely and a replacement engine 👍

are the doors not mark for the hinges🙂

The doors will have sections ready for the hinges to fit in to but as anal as it sounds mate; I don't know which holes the doors are going to require on the wardrobe yet, without undoing the packaging and offering one up to see.

20190508_033459.thumb.jpg.091d1ca879de6de237aaea71a683ea60.jpg

We used the PAX computer planning software in IKEA to plan the wardrobe which the software for example wont let you put in a wooden drawer at the bottom row because it conflicts with a hinge for the doors.

Thd software also tells you which holes you need to put the drawer rails in to ans shelves see here 👇 count up six holes and insert rail for basket

20190508_093825.thumb.jpg.665006d1d20f714a185cea2f0269cc70.jpg

20190508_141456.thumb.jpg.c4f81ffe51203982ae460030de9ed794.jpg

All great; but we later purchased a glass shelf to fit on top of the jewellery tray drawer on the right saw below,

20190508_140930.thumb.jpg.dc3fce0db1a2f03f245472b3b743f31a.jpg

but we didn't put the glass shelf in on the planner software to know the hole number ensuring a middle hinge doesn't require the same hole as the one we put the glass shelf in,

So I'll have to fit the doors first because everything that is currently fitted was accepted on the planner and wont conflict the hinges but the glass shelf was an after thought, the planner is fantastic provided you remember to put everything in to it prior to print.

I would forget most of it and it would end up in the bin😂

I do like seeing someone getting probably my favourite Meat Loaf track inserted into a thread about building IKEA wardrobes 😎

Finally picked my car up. Not bad fuel economy for a Mondeo.

I do like Liverpool doing one over on Barcelona last night. Cheeky Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner at the end was pure genius!

I do like that Amazon delivered my box of 20 Malteser Teaser bars yesterday morning after only ordering them late Sunday evening (don't have Prime so was expecting them by the end of the week). Nom, nom, nom 🍫:eat:.

It's a mad world mate, 😄 who would associate the two

Amazing voice I ended up playing the best of meat loaf on spotify while building all the bits today,

I must have played "two out of three" around eight times as our four year old son began swaying to it with his eyes closed and hands waving like the sea ☺ says "me kinda like that song dad"

That reminds me. My sister got a new tablet and screen protector. On the screen protector box it specifically says 'military grade - bomb resistant' if true what benefit would that help in a situation like that 😂. So the screen protector will be fine but what about the tablet 🤔

Lithium battery fire would be a good test for the screen protector,

Eh true Fire HD 😄
