I wouldn't blame the manufacturer too much here. Every electronic devices manufacturer got a lot of component issues these past couple of years and the car manufacturers were no exception.

Anyway, our DVR can be only installed thru dealer channel. That was not designed to be installed on the factory line.

Cheers!

I have just bought this dash cam and fitted it to my new 10/2022 ford kuga st line x 4x4 automatic  I found the instruction easy to follow in wiring it into the body control module under the glove box . After ford was asked to fit this from new but forgot and they forgot the wireless charging pad . But I found the one from the Ford Focus plugs into the cig light plug and with no wiring troubles . They also forgot the tailgate foot control chip in the bod control module . Fourth new kuga in 12 years and it’s the first time I have had any trouble with Ford cars not being built to the right spec.

Wireless charging pad and foot sensor of the automatic tailgate are no longer fitted as standard.

The wireless charging pad needs to be ordered seperately. The foot sensor of the automatic tailgate is currently no longer available at all.

Between the moment you ordered the car and the moment of delivery Ford has changed the specifications. In this case the "missing" options are part of a modelyear change. Most contracts also mention clearly that Ford has the right to change the specifications.

Hi guys,

Is there any chance to have a feedback about how the app/ DashCam runs on a S20+ 5G, please?

Thank you all!

Hi Ovidiu

You seem to be extremely knowledgeable on these Ford dash cams, I was wondering if you’d ever come across no audio being recorded.

I fitted one to my 2023 Fiesta ST yesterday, It’s powered on, latest updates installed on app and camera, paired to my iPhone 12 Pro Max.
I just can’t seem to get Audio to record with the video, have I missed something in the settings ?
I can’t hear audio from the files on my phone or on my laptop it’s very strange

any help would be hugely appreciated

regards

Hi Baz,

Unfortunately the device was never fitted with a microphone, so the audio recording is not possible.  Sorry.

This is one of Ford requirements for this DashCam.

Ovidiu.

That explains why I can’t hear it 😂 I wish Ford would have made that clear on their website, oh well not the end of the world. I can rest easy knowing nothing is wrong.

Thank you again

all the best

I would love to install this on a MK3 Focus RS in the States. I am also looking at the 2022-2023 Ford Edge ST and fit one of this, which runs on SYNC 4.

Other than the three wires, (other than via the SYNC app) how does it intergrate with the SYNC head unit?

It is 😁.

No other connection needed.

Only needs to:

  • Install the Ford DashCam app on your phone
  • Connect the phone to the SYNC unit (BT)
  • Activate the SYNC mobile apps
    • That requires to have Android Auto and CarPlay disabled.

Please let me know if you need more details.

Thanks!

Been very interesting reading through this thread as I have the Ford Dashcam fitted to a Kuga, but I have a couple things to ask. The first one that was mentioned earlier which is that on an iphone the live view screen just stays black, i followed any 'allow' requests during the install but to no avail. I have access to an android phone and the view works fine. So has anyone resolved this issue who uses an iPhone? 🙂

The other item that to me is an issue that has not been discussed here, so here's hopping.

i'm in the UK and we are on miles not kilometres, so is there a way to change the info recording from KM/H to M/H?

thanks in advance. :-)

Hi Paul,

Please let me know what kind of iPhone do you have. Some screen captures would be nice.

You can use the email address: [email protected].

Not right now. We have this in our plan. Hopefully will have this on a future update.

I've had the ford dash cam installed by my dealer today on ford puma 2023 . Im frustrated as it seem that it has no sound and the speed is not in MPH, Also i found that trying to do live view it won't work keeps saying dissconnected or when the app comes on the screen off my ford sync but even on the car screen still no live view. any ideas???

Im struggling with this considering that my cheap binaton does voice and more features than the expensive own ford dash cam

thanks

The Ford dashcam does not have sound.

The speed is in KMpH and can not be changed.

I'm using this dashcam in my Focus mk4.5 ST integrated with Sync 4. The dashcam co tools used to display on the screen when I  selected the dashcam app on the Sync 4. Now when I open the app, I just get a menu list which just says 'Exit dashcam '. I no longer get any controls on the screen. Is there any way I can reset this to get the controls back?

Hi Matt,

This happens when the DashCam is not connected to the phone.

Make sure that the DashCam can be controlled by the phone then try again from SYNC.

Cheers!

I had the dashcam connected to the phone as was downloading some videos from it. While this was happening,  I tried again to access dashcam menu on the Sync screen. Same thing, no controls, just exit dashcam menu item. This was working previously.  Not sure if the recent Sync 4 update has anything to do with it. This was apparently a minor update on 12th Sept to make refinements for future updates. Sync version wasn't changed.

Matt,

The SYNC SDL library was updated and it will be an SDL library update for the app too.

It should be live shortly - this week or the next. Update the app when it will be up and let's see what happens after that.

I have tested successfully up to 128GB SD Card.

We recommend any INDUSTRIAL XI  SD Card type. This is what we use.

Unfortunately those are very expensive but are designed to work optimal in such environment:

Product Highlights
Operating Temp Range: -40°C to 85°C
High endurance: Up to 192 Terabytes Written
Broad portfolio: 8GB to 128GB
Extended product life cycle
Advanced memory management FW features power immunity, auto/manual read refresh, ECC, wear leveling
New suite of features to enhance reliability and utility, including health status meter, programmable ID,
Host lock (card ownership lock), secure FFU,
Dynamic Bit Flip Protection
Durable design: water proof, shock and vibration
proof, X-ray proof, magnet proof, impact proof *

Hi @Lumberjack

With regard to the micro SD card, would an endurance spec SD card work just as well as an industrial spec card? From my research and understanding,  these endurance cards are designed for many read/write cycles and are recommended for dashcams. Also have you tested any bigger than 128Gb cards in the Ford dashcam.

Cheers

Matt

Hi @sparkymatt,

For the SD Card we do need to have that higher operating temperature limits. Needs to, since is operating in a black device under direct sunlight. The temperatures there are pretty high in the summer.

You can use a high endurance SD Card but we do not guarantee the recordings.

Sure thing, we tested a lot of SD Cards, it works just fine, but in certain condition you can have errors.

We also tested successfully the 256GB SD Card. Only thing with those, when the card is full, the boot period is longer.

Cheers!

Ovidiu

Hi @Lumberjack

Thanks again for your advice. I will look further  into The SD cards.

I've ordered a SanDisk 128Gb High Endurance SD card as the temperature range is the same as the Insdustrial spec cards. These are also designed for multiple read/writes and recommended by Western Digital (manufacturer of SanDisk cards) for use in dashcams.

It should work.

Anyway take a look at Industrial XI specs. That's what the DashCam came with. But as I said, High Endurance should work too.
