I don't believe there'll be another lockdown.  It's now being left up to the public to be 'sensible'.  The majority of vulnerable people should be getting a Covid booster as well as the flu jab and the rest will just be expected to live with it and hope that the symptoms are mild once everyone's been doubled-jabbed.

I have wondered whether there'll be any 'strong guidance' about face coverings and distancing coming back in winter for both flu & covid though.

Not strictly true as there quite a few that can't have the jab for whatever reason...  Small percentage of the population yes, but a considerable amount in actual numbers.

Entirely correct buddy, but I should have added, that those like you who unfortunately can't take the vaccination, have more than enough sense to protect yourself. You don't need the entire population to be locked in their house. You assess your risk everyday, just as I do, we're adults, and it would be nice for the government to treat us as such.

On cruise ships, which my Mrs is a great fan of, they have this thing where you're supposed to open the toilet door with a paper towel when you've done your business in there. So you carefully open the door lock using the towel, manoeuvre yourself out, and find yourself in the corridor with a germ infested paper towel in your hand and nowhere to put it!

My wife says this. She also points out that whenever I make a sensible statement it usually starts with "My wife says......" !😀

So I took my first jab last week. Took the Pfizer stuff. No side effects apart from a saw arm the next day

Love island and that weird show I stumbled across about a guy or girl looking at a group of naked people and picking their favourite 🤦.

What has this world come to

But back to topic sort of. I went back to work today after a lazy week off and found our covid health and safety officer for our site had returned from 2 weeks isolation after getting covid . Was a double jabber too. He said he still  suffered quite badly.

In A&E where I work I've heard of people still coming in with covid dispite having both jabs. I saw one covid patient come in after having the first jab 10 days ago. No deaths from what I know.

Doesn’t bare thinking about if he didn’t have the jabs.

Highest profile so far was Andrew Marr, double jabbed but missed his Sunday show 2 weeks as down with Covid. He was 'ill', but not hospitalised which is the whole ethos behind the vaccine. If you do get it, it adds a layer of protection that you don't end up on a ventilator in hospital. The flu jab does the same, it doesn't make you immune, just lessens the effect if you do contract it, indeed it only has a 60% efficacy rate rather than the covid one which is in excess of 90%!

Human nature as it is; being double jabbed lowers our guard to risk.

Well, watched the Downing Street briefing last night. Thought it was going well until they reached the bit about facemasks.

Instead of clear guidance we end up with the confusing situation that they are not compulsory but "recommended"  and "a matter of common courtesy" and the PM and Professors Whitty and Vallance telling us that they will continue to use them under, it appeared, virtually all circumstances

It seems that shops, transport operators etc can still set their own rules anyway as to what happens on their turf. You won't be fined but I guess you could be refused entry.

I can just see another cause of friction here, to add to the "leavers and remainers", "woke and non-woke",  "take the knee" or not, and other arguments. I can easily imagine a "pro-masker" coming out with "show some consideration for others" while an "anti-masker" will ask "what are you wearing that for?".

Lol, I wish people would toss them in the bin after they've used them! I'll be keeping a few at least (unused!) for when I have to visit hospital/doctors where I'll probably use 2 at once (might even get a stock of FFP3 if I find I have to start going regularly again). You can catch some very nasty stuff in those places as we know!

 

Just been reading some of the updates and now theres no isolation required if you have been double jabbed.....so who's going to police and prove you have been double jabbed in the first place .......
