New Covid vaccine - would you take it?

Looks like they've now changed their minds on that. This morning I see "Sainsbury's is the biggest retailer so far to state they will require customers to wear masks". Waterstones have said the same.

USDAW, the shop workers union, is up in arms that their members will be required to enforce rules which are not backed by law, similar story with the transport workers.  I have sympathy with that.

Generally a bit of a shambles. At least in Scotland the FM has provided some clarity backed by law, whether you agree with her or not.

The biggest shock there is that Waterstones are still open...I didn't know anyone still bought books! 😮

As for Sainsburys, that's made my choice easier for Monday.

Now, will you be shopping there, or going somewhere else that would treat you like an adult?

If I want to be treated like an adult I'll have to start acting like one! 😮

I’ve got a big decision on Monday😀

Lol, we don't know what the others are doing yet do we? Anyone seen anything from Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Co-op, etc? (Been in the garden all morning so if there's any developments I've missed them!😀).

Think we will be sticking to home deliveries for the time being.

Wow, that £800 Million the government spent on advertising to scare the bejesus out of the population really worked on some! 😞

I really don't mind wearing a mask for a little while in a shop.  If it protects the workers it's a small price to pay.    I don't feel oppressed.

The size of a Covid droplet is about 10μm (micrometers). If you believe that old cotton sock/t-shirt strapped round your face helps, well, go for it. All it really does is get filled with your own germs as you exhale, and like a built in petri dish, cooks them nicely. (Think of it like wallowing in the dirty water of your own bath, as opposed to a fresh shower)

Like I've said before, if they mandated proper FFP3 masks, I'd have had more respect. That's the reason despite numerous requests, the government has never released one shred of official scientific evidence saying that 'face coverings' actually have a significant benefit...

I would like to know how many supermarket workers have died or seriously ill from Covid.I know it’s impossible to prove they caught it at work but for me it’s interesting data. Not interested in customers because it’s their choice when, where, how they shop.

I have contacts in retail, and in the 3 nearest Asdas to me, there have been no deaths recorded from Covid, though some staff have contracted it, but as you say, no way of knowing where it originated from...

Though, it would be a relatively easy study for government to initiate!

Lol, you'll be pleased to know that I've pointed this out to my MP several times - message doesn't seem to have been passed on! 😀

If I invited you round for dinner and asked you to take your shoes off when you came in I'd hope you would out of courtesy and respect.  I do in my friends houses.

There's no difference here with a supermarket asking you to wear a mask.

I'm saddened that you can not differentiate between those 2 activities. The supermarket for starters, is not my 'friend', it's a profit driven machine. If you had a hole in your sock and would be overcome with embarrassment exposing it to your friend, I certainly hope they would respect you enough to be exempt from taking your shoes off...

Look, no point going round in circles, you would do what you're told, I question it. There's room for all of us...

I really don’t understand those that are so willing to use masks in supermarkets  now the death rate is so low and our society is probably the most vaccinated (protected)in the world. It’s not normal. My next door neighbour, due to Covid was unable to get a blood test sufficiently quick enough, has now been told he has cancer and only two months to live.

Looks as if Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons and Waitrose are following Sainsburys lead. Yet to see what Co-op and M&S will do but I guess they'll probably do likewise.😷

That is atrocious. Ironic that all my cancer follow ups have been on hold for a year but I got a blood test 2 weeks ago, & only today I got the result which was negative, so that's me done for another 6 months. So sad about your neighbour...

I think there’s going to be a lot of stressful people at supermarket front doors arguing with one another.Let’s hope not and we’re all allowed to choose.

I just prefer the delivery driver to carry all our heavy shopping 70 metres from the road to our doorstep.

It's very rare for me personally to go into a shop.

You assume I don't question it.  Of course I do.  I don't agree with isolation for the double-jabbed for instance.  Far better to lateral flow daily.

There are many things I question but I still don't quite understand, unless you have a physical or mental illness that means you can't wear a mask, really what is the problem with wearing one for a little time in a shop, even if you think it makes no difference?  If it makes the shop workers feel a little more protected, why not?

I’m sure you could make a case for wearing masks all the time. Why not?Covid is not going away, it’s here forever.

wearing masks all the time

So if we all have to wear masks everywhere forever (and the woke brigade would like that - not sure why) will garages still want motorcyclists to remove their helmet when paying for petrol so that the CCTV can get a good look at their mask ?

See: Alex Belfield "The Voice of Reason" on YouTube for the answer.

The worrying thing about this is that there are already "experts" making the case for wearing masks permanently - if they prevent Covid, then they must also prevent flu, etc, etc, etc.

It's always good to share a moan on here, but ultimately it won't achieve much. I've messaged my MP three times in a fortnight on the subject of masks, please do the same if you have strong feelings either way.

Just spotted that Co-op and M&S are taking a slightly different approach. More a "feel free to wear a mask if you wish" rather than "please wear a mask". I call into my local small Co-op most days so I'll soon see what happens in reality from Monday.

Anyone who insists on wearing a mask from the 19th should be mandated to use a high spec medical grade mask, rather than a piece of rag, socks, your wife’s knickers, your knickers, towel, scarf, blue disposal etc😀
