"Who gains" indeed?

Imagine if they removed all the 'delays' that you mention, for other medical issues....but they haven't and won't.

Yes, this would indeed be wonderful.  But the discussion as to why we happily spend billions on weapons but not vaccines has absolutely nothing to do with believing in conspiracies.

The super rich don't care about us one way or another.  They are not plotting against us, they are completely indifferent to us.

Its strange as they say all these trials on people not only UK all over the world, and they have not tried them with people with allergies as it needed people to have a reaction then mention it,ok the people who had the reaction was all ok.

As said above this is for a yes or no if you would have it and i would still have it but it makes you think why people react on stuff what the government says and numbers etc.

I wish the Gov would just be honest for once as a lot of people don't know what to do.

A poll would be a good thing on this.

It's not just the government, everyone is lying to us all the time.  I don't mean that in a conspiracy way, but it seems impossible to squeeze a simple, truthful answer out of any organisation nowadays.  The only thing you can be totally sure of is that you never get the full story about anything.

All you can do is look at as many facts as you can find from sources you can at least partly trust (not random ***** on Facebook) and then make your own semi-educated decision based on all the information you have available to you at the time.

What has surprised me is how both my Nan and Great Aunt (both in their 80s) now don't want the vaccine...  Yet they can't get to the Doctors quick enough when the flu jab dates are announced!  I can only assume the usual village misers are spreading crap around to put them off...  They don't have the benefit of the internet so just believe anything they're told unfortunately.

The financial side of things might depend on how much the Government has "saved" by having a lot less pensions to pay out in the coming years but how much that will off set the millions they have squandered in their haphazardly way out of this Pandemic is anyones guess.

I think a lot of people see the Pfizer vaccine as an experimental one so are put off. I don't think many people reading this will get offered that one, it is more likely to be the Oxford  one if it gets approval. Personally I would have them both if I could.

I was watching a rerun of the Panorama programme on the iPlayer and have included a link for anyone interested. It is almost an hour long though. BBC iPlayer - Panorama - The Race for a Vaccine

Yes at least for this situation. We people tend to rely on what they say so that is very crucial for everyone.

I'd have either if it means getting back to some kind of normality !

There is no promise that it will.

Equally no promise that it won't. With 68,053 cases and 1,325 deaths today, bring it on.

Now I'm 50 I get the flu jab, got it booked for 18th Jan.  I'll get the covid jab when it's offered.

There is no scientific or medical reason to think that.

It was already mentioned in one of the daily updates the other day that we might have to live with this virus from now on.

No one under the age of 16 is going to recieve the vaccine so I can't see it going away for a long time.

It's also not been mentioned as to how long the vaccine lasts for and wether we would need an annual booster or not and all this doesn't take into effect of the further possibility of the virus mutating again.

FF nothing you have posted there shows the vaccine stopping the body fighting the specific vaccinated disease.

Additionally you are using one vaccine to prove a point about all vaccines.

If instead of the smallpox vaccine you had picked the hib vaccine then you could prove the point all vaccines are safe.

My work deals with fact and logic so that's what I try to use all round.  Apart from those with extreme allergies or compromised immune systems there is to me no logical reason not to take this vaccine.

It hasn't skipped testing, it has had the none-medical delays removed.

I see the Queen and Prince Philip have decided to chance it!

My elderly parents have had it and no side effects at all. My partner( healthcare profession) had it last Wednesday. she had side effect of slight pain and lump where jab went in and a slight rash round her neck. I explained the rash could have been me trying to choke her in her sleep while she snored!! 😂😂😂😂😂.

Programme seems to be well under way in my area. A mass vaccination site was set up in a former car park at the end of last year, initially to do 'flu jabs, but it's now switched to Coronavirus vaccinations. Passed there on my walk this morning and it was very busy.

Yeah, they are not stupid enough to be taken in by the Tinfoil on the Head Brigade.

My local GP Surgery are offering it to over 80's who are not housebound starting from Monday.

At 94 and 99 respectively they're in the highest risk group and would be well up the queue whoever they were. I'm sure HM's decision to publicise the fact is to encourage the doubters.

I guess it's up to all of us as individuals to make our own decision as to the relative risks of having/not having the vaccination.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm not in favour of compulsion but I would be very surprised if those who have not had the vaccine don't face restrictions on certain forms of activity, travel and so on for quite some time. Also there is a need to consider if you refuse the vaccine and do get the virus then you're taking resources from others who are unable to get treatment for cancer, stroke, heart attack etc.

Being over 65 and having "an underlying health condition" I have no reservations about having it asap.

I don't think that will ever happen in the UK. As far as I know it shows up in your medical records just like any other vaccine but  no one is given a certificate so that they can prove that they have had it.

It may happen in other countries.

Some workplaces are considering not letting none-vaccinated staff back in the office, unless they have a medical reason not to.

I can't see it becoming mandatory.

Remember the vaccine is only 90% effective anyway.  Even if everyone had it there would still be 10% walking around susceptible, that's a huge number in real terms.  Hopefully those 10% are spread out but if they find there's a link to age or ethnicity then it could mean large groups together at risk.

A few of my Nans friends have had it now but she's still reluctant.

Yeah my mum will but dad won't yet, but he is bit of a conspiracy nut.

Is that a real story or another made up one.
