Turbo trouble

I have a 1.8 tdci on a 59 plate. I had a split turbo intake hose that caused loads of black smoke and the warning codes on air flow. I had this replaced along with the air flow meter. I no longer have the black smoke but still have the error message and reduced power. My mechanic has done a smoke test and says there are no more leaks. Would this suggest it is terminal for the turbo? I ask as my mechanic is reluctant to do any more work on it.

Has the stored error code been cleared after work was done? Which hose did you get changed? I had 3 of these cars and every one of them split that small curved hose to the egr.
