Satnav 'home' error

My satnav in a 2016 Focus shows that I am Gillingham, which is 87 miles from my home address where the car is.

Can I get rid of this incorrect starting point?

A simple off/on should force the unit to search for satellite reception and hence a more accurate location... In addition, a short drive will force the unit to seek satellite reception, showing your current location.

I think they mean the "home" favourite stored in the nav.

I can't remember the exact procedure off the top of my head, but it can definitely be edited.

It's often left in from the previous owner. Dealers go to all the trouble making sure there is no paperwork with the previous owners address for data protection, but don't then remove the home address from the sat nav.

It should say in the manual, if someone doesn't come along with instructions. I'm guessing a 2016 is Sync 2.

Top tip - if editing your 'home', don't call it 'home', use another name. If your car is ever nicked, the thieves know you're out, and a simple press of 'home' on your SatNav will take them straight to an empty house!

Thanks for these suggestions but:

1 I can see the 'no gps' symbol

2 If I set my home address and 'check route' it shows the complete route from Gillingham

3 Thanks but I am using my actual Post Code whilst trying to sort the problem out - I normally set 'home' about a mile away.

4 Do you know how the previous owners address can be deleted?

Do any of the above help with my problem?

Any answers gratefully received.

I think that I'm making progress! I unplugged my dashcam and everything seems to be OK at the moment. I read that you, alexp999, recommended moving the dashcam as far away from the 'box' behind the mirror as possible. It is strange that this should have just recently started to cause a problem, when the dashcam has been very close to the mirror for the last 2 or 3 years.
