I live in a cold weather climate. Starting to think it is causing the modem to shut down. Fob conmand start still works

Batteries don’t like the cold so it will lose charge quicker and trigger deep sleep sooner than warmer climates.

I called Ford Pass in early December to get the status of SSM 49795 and was told that the software update is now available.  I have an appointment with my dealer tomorrow to have it applied.

Just make sure it's not " Double Locked " as you may have difficulty in getting to the battery if the voltage drops too low.

Just been on another 30 min run air on off and as though it’s an st edition I gave it the beans😂😂 but it’s still it’s in deep sleep 💤 not even the pops and bangs woke it up 😂

Well you're the first I've known to need a new telematics unit. Do keep us posted on how things go and if it fixes the problem

Had to google what a TCU unit was LOL They weren't invented when my car was built 🤣

No doubt a recent addition to cars but I used to set up and commission telematics units on mobile military radar systems back in the late 1980's. Back then it was very new technology used for controlling the radar from positions well away form the danger zone.

Regarding the TCU, This might be of interest to some people. If you have Connectivity Settings enabled then the TCU on these cars can receive over the air updates without you knowing anything about it. Mine has been updated about four times.

You do not need to enable Wi-Fi for the updates to happen.

So the car went and had a new TCU module fitted, this was fitted because the old one stopped working there was no serial number listed in the settings, but the issue was still there regarding deep sleep when the car has been used for over an hour you lock it walk away and then within the hour it flashes up the vehicle is in deep sleep😂🙃

Went back to Ford, the car was there overnight to have battery charged, all good for 2 days 😂👎

I started leasing my Ford Edge back in May.  Have not had any real issues until this morning.  I woke up to the same deep sleep mode message.  My panel does not show battery issues and I checked my vehicle health.  Now the problem is the message tells you to make sure you turn off the air conditioner & accessories...but how can you do that if the darn screen is off and in a deep sleep...that makes no sense.  I called the dealership, who told me they can't see my truck for another 3 to 4 weeks.  Well that isn't going to work especially with our weather changing.  So I go online and see that it could be our weather dropping into extreme temps.  The service tech couldn't even tell me that!  If this is going to be a constant problem, I hope they are prepared to replace my battery for free.  I've only had it 6 months and the winter weather is here.  We pay too much for this to be going on!

Buy a Smart battery charger and put the battery on charge for 12 hours. Remember to connect the negative lead to the chassis earth point and not the battery.

It is not a faulty battery, it is a fact of life that modern cars do not, and can not keep the battery fully charged, especially in cold weather. Search this forum for "State Of Charge" if you want to research the issue.
