Bye to Ford but info if anyone gets my Focus

Featured Replies

So today we traded in the Focus for the RAV.

It's a superb car and the hybrid is something else.

Anyway, my old car is BC19YGA.  Focus stlx 182 auto with park assist and rear camera.

She had 10800 on when I traded her in. Been run on super unleaded for 95% of those

She's had the 2nd year service, new fuel rail, new accelerator pedal and new rear shocks all under warranty.

I've never thrashed it when cold.

Swap the front clusters for the led ones and you'll have a very nice car.

  • Any tips in trading the missus in ? I'd like a newer model preferably one that fires on all cylinders and doesn't moan too much...

  • Perhaps the ride is smoother because one wheel can no longer independently drop into a pothole so the car just floats over them?

Thought moaning at certain times was a good sign 🤔😎😀

I thought of you yesterday when I saw that Toyota are now having issues with chip shortages as well.

Glad to see yours was already built though.

Good luck getting your hands on a new model in the current climate.

I can't even remember the last time I heard that type of moan :g:Past five years it's like this...  :wallbash: :nopity: :rip:

I have been known to give it some beans when warm yes 😂

Toyota have been clever in bypassing their normal JIT and getting some stock in.  They are also lowering production levels rather than building full tilt and then stopping suddenly.

I asked what they will do with it.

They said they would stick it on Listers Coventry forecourt for a while then it would go to auction.  They gave me 16k for it, it will be interesting to see what they list it as.

The RAV has loads of cool stuff.  Radar assisted cruise is spooky.

But one thing is weird.  Theres no facility for welcome lights on unlock or follow me home on lock.

Odd when pretty much all new cars do this as standard.

Perhaps it's one that's produced at there Russian factory?

You have the  rav FSB model. Not welcoming and deffo not follow me home.

Actually , where was yours made?

It's Japanese.  I was lucky I ordered just before Toyota lowered their output.  Waiting times now are 14 weeks or more.

A friend of ours has just got his fourth Honda CRV, this latest one is also a hybrid. He's had autos for years anyway, so found it easy to get used to, and is very pleased with it. He reckons he's getting 48mpg overall, which is about 10 mpg  better than the claimed combined figure and seems pretty good for a petrol of that size and weight. It'll be interesting to see how the RAV does.

Right now I'm on 48mpg.   Not driving it any different than the Focus which I was lucky to get 30 out of.

Oh and Tom will be impressed.  It has multilink rear suspension. 😁

He won't be!! That will depends on the smoothness of the ride.

Well the ride is quite amazing.  It just doesn't roll but still soaks up bumps.  All the new Toyota are based on the same TNGA platform with a low centre of gravity so a CHR might suit him.

Automatic though which I know he's not sure about.

Yep, if the rides poor, that don't impress me much...

What's the CVT like around pulling away and reverse parking?  And can you feel regen braking (I'm guessing they use that?).

I'd prefer the Corolla over the Rav 4 I think though.

  • Author

It does do regen braking but in D it is hardly noticeable.  There is a B option you can use to increase it for say on a steep hill or if you just feel like it.

Acceleration is more linear than a conventional auto as there are no gear ratios in a CVT.  It will creep like any auto.  You would need to drive one really.

May be an option on Toyota's equivalent of ForScan. Oh, report back to us after being on the TOC site for a bit if their GPS disappears when you get a software update like what Ford have designed in LOL

i want to try an electric car for a week just to see if it suits  me and my driving style and journeys. would be curious if the claimed range is achievable with my journeys.

Give this ago, not fast but has a good range

im sure if i start out early ( 3am) i could manage my trip to work and back.
