It does do regen braking but in D it is hardly noticeable.  There is a B option you can use to increase it for say on a steep hill or if you just feel like it.

That could be useful on ice and snow covered roads. I Have been caught out in the past coming off gritted motorways onto an ungritted slip roads, most of which were downhill.

  • Any tips in trading the missus in ? I'd like a newer model preferably one that fires on all cylinders and doesn't moan too much...

  • Perhaps the ride is smoother because one wheel can no longer independently drop into a pothole so the car just floats over them?

im sure if i start out early ( 3am) i could manage my trip to work and back.

...and at that time, when you run out of electric, you could always get a boost from a passing milk float LOL

Acceleration is more linear than a conventional auto as there are no gear ratios in a CVT.  It will creep like any auto.  You would need to drive one really.

Fancy letting me borrow yours for a week?

I don't find DSG creeps...it doesn't want you wearing out the clutches so just bangs the gear straight in until you jump on the brake to restrain it.. I did have a slush-auto Vectra which I found more controllable.  Though I only had that for a few hours as the waterpump had failed and dumped all the coolant on my maiden voyage to Sainsbury's.

I must admit...John's point about ice & snow makes me not want an auto even more though...  I wouldn't trust myself with RWD either in bad weather.

A good auto will have a snow mode where it will set off in 2nd or even 3rd to avoid slip.  You could argue that this is better than a manual as if you do that too often in one of those you'll burn out the clutch

@Alex.S will be as well!

I refuse to refer to it as multi link or SLA etc it’s either got Suspension or it’s NOT! 🤬  I’ve got 22k miles on mine. Long, long way to the supermarket every time during lockdown!  Anyway happy new car @Guy Heaton! I’ve got mine another 11 months. Ordering next in June. Ford will need to get the finger out if they want my custom again. All the best Guy

The RAV.  I'm getting used to the size now and it is just so smooth like all the Toyota Hybrids.

If I could swap the Ford sync3 unit into it it would be perfect.RAV43.thumb.jpg.f37bad90250df444963154654e1177e2.jpg

That is a crackin' looking car, well done, but remember, no one likes a show off LOL 🤣

Looks like someone's vandalised the front number plate already!

Yes, but it will still look a picture at night framed with the festoon lighting round the garage door!

How poor is the Toyota unit to want Sync3 in it!?

It does looks huge there, does it fit in the garage?

I really liked the unit in my Focus tbh.  Better than a lot of other cars.  The mk4 Focus is also nicer inside than a Corolla.  Much more modern.

So, this is the same 'sync' system that this forum is littered with threads saying that when updated, the GPS stops working? LOL

I can't get on with Sync myself, find the VAG system to be much more intuitive.  Sync also won't play my music how I want it.  And the sat nav seems to take forever to find it's location.  Not to mention the annoying location message that pops every time...

I'm not sure looking more modern is always better either...the latest Citroen & Peugeot cars feel far too futuristic for me...maybe I'm just getting old though.

Could be worse they might start installing Windows 11 then we would have to spend all day, everyday updating, fixing, rebooting, intalling antivirus stuff, and removing cookies just so we could start the car - and then wouldn't you know it, that would be just the time when the start/stop system would decide to wake up and switch the car off.

Aren't modern cars fun ? 🤣

Aye.  To be fair I never had any issues with mine apart from the camera brightness which fixed itself after an update.

To someone who wants to use their car as a smartphone, probably yes.

To someone who just wants it to get them from A to B and back, reliably, without fuss, probably no.

That's showing my age.

I see they have refurbed the wheels but not changed the tyres that were all getting a little low on tread.

Lol, so if the buyer spots the tyres and negotiates a new set as part of the deal, they'll probably graunch the wheels and have to do them again!😀

I'm a bit miffed they haven't listed the camera and park assist.  I might contact them about it.  I still have a soft spot for the car, it is a good car and I'd like it to go to someone who appreciates it.  Mind you if they do buy it they'll be chuffed to get the extras.

46mpg they say though, that's a laugh 😆
