Matt H-J
Looking for some advice, just purchased a 2017 ranger wildtrak with a 230v socket in the rear of the consol. Keen to use it but not sure how! Firstly, it looks upside down so almost impossible to insert a plug and when I did find something to plug into it there didn’t seem to be any power. Any thoughts gratefully received! Thanks, Matt.
eddie eastwood
Is this article of any help? https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/topic/141782-ford-ranger-factory-fit-13-pin-plug/
unofix
That article seems to only be about the towing sockets. The OP is talking about the 230V mains socket fitted on the rear of the centre consul. They are normally limited to 3 to 5 Amps maximum so no plugging your welder in !! On many vehicles the socket only provides power when the engine is running otherwise the inverter would run the car battery flat quite quickly. They are in many vehicles mounted upside down because they are so near the floor if the socket was the normal way up, then the cable coming out of the bottom of a UK plug would cause a problem. Remember that other countries use plugs where the cable comes straight out the back of the plug and so it's not a problem.
