Do you still get the 'classic' option on Win 11?  I've run both windows 8/8.1 & Windows 10 in the classic view without the 'tiles'.  I want my laptop to look like a laptop...not a phone!

  • One of the main things I detest about Windows 10 (and 11 no doubt) is the way those arrogant bar stewards at Micro$oft have taken away control of updates from the customer. As I don't use my laptop ve

Just like a Mac !! 🤣

I did say you were brave to be using windows 11. Well at least now you have the 'Tee Shirt' 😉

3 .ocx files in total, but once i did one the rest were easy. All set up now, ready for the cluster

Do it properly and get a VLinker, mine was only £25 from Aliexpress when on offer and does it all properly. They can access all busses at the same time, where as all the modified ones do is automatically flick the switch so it's still one or the other and you'll still get warnings about a none recommended adapter in forscan with one of those.

True but delivery can be 70 - 75 days.

Amazon can do next day for £32.50 (tick the box for the 8% discount)

I used alliexpress for the first ever time last month for a phone case. Was surprised to get it in 14 days, though the most annoying thing was the 2 or 3 daily emails I got with various updates, even with opting out of 'marketing' . Nice case too... I'd have to be exceptionally desperate to use that insidious Amazon! LOL

So about that Alliexpresss firestick you have, is it the same as the one us heathens use from Amazon 🤣🤣

The only positive about that FireStick is that Amazon hasn't had a single penny from me since 'acquiring' it LOL (It was a cast off from a friend who 'upgraded')

I like Aliexpress for quite a few of my car purchases recently. Am a bit dubious of buying certain things due to China's history of creating cheap bootleg copy devices etc,. I've found delivery times can range from 10 days to the full 75 or whatever, but if your in no mad rush it's acceptable.

Postie just delivered, Aliexpress parcel, fancy new mini torch, jeeeez its bright and made of metal well impressed for £4.00. has 3 light functions, on,strobe and a side light cob or cog or whatever name escapes me atmo, also has a slide focus feature for the beam, ideal to keep in the car USB charging.

Took me 3 months to find a decent torch WITHOUT the 3 x functions LOL I'm old fashioned, when I switch on a torch, I just want a beam of light, not a disco party 🤣 LED LenSer came up trumps.

That can be the case, but I find most stuff comes in 14-30 days, my VLinker from their official store was ordered on the 13th and delivered on the 27th. £32.50 is good, it was £40 when I ordered and I already had a working cable with switch so was in no rush, I just wanted the VLinker for firmware updates.

hello everybody,  i was trying to load a new key using forscan and my elm327,  it all seemed to be working ok but it never added the new key, also wanted to remove one of the keys that didnt come with the car, but it deletes all keys at once, then says you need a working key to add new ones,  how do you do that if it just deleted all the keys

The ELM327 is not suitable for a 2014 model.

Use vLinker FS cable.

Programming of keys after 2013 is not supported on most models.

Someone sensible will be along shortly to offer the 'Ford' way, but if it were my car, I would have employed the services of a local independent auto locksmith who have quite sophisticated equipment to do such things... Usually not as expensive as you'd think.

Most vehicles after 2013 require (paid) authorized access to the Ford FDRS diagnostic system with (paid) PATS authorization. This requires the annual FDRS subscription and the PATS authorization on top.

Apart from Ford dealerships very few FDRS users have PATS authorization.

That's the problem with ForScan, it's a very powerful program which if you don't fully know what you're doing, has the ability to 'brick' your car, which sadly appears to be the position the OP has got himself in to right now. Hopefully, he'll get a way out.

no its not bricked, its the same as it was before, my question was if you delete all keys and need a programmed key to add them it sound contradictionary.   i tried to add new key but it did nothing

Then have the good sense to leave it well alone. Forscan is wonderful but it assumes some knowledge and it is also very likely to do harm in the wrong hands. I have used it for some years but always with a great deal of caution. The Forscan forum is a friendly place and I usually seek advice there before going in deep as I probably only use it about twice a year.

Regarding computers, I worked in a Win10 environment and found that it wa.s deeply unproductivebecause it was always updating for hours on end and keeping me away from the work I was trying to do with it.

Windows 7 is entirely stable, never seems to crash on either of my machines (one with 96 GB RAM, two then very fast Xeon processors and 4TB of SSD) and more than adequatey functional. It won't run Cyanlabs though so I might consider buying an old netbook to update my infotainment on the Fiesta, although Google maps is fast becoming more useful than the very good navigation system supplied by Ford.

A bit off topic, but I have recently said the exacts same thing on another thread as I run a Windows 7 laptop & desktop, both wonderfully reliable, and upgraded with SSD. I despise MS for trying to force me to upgrade to something that is worse!

....and as I've said before "dito" 👍

If you read the full link I posted above regarding using FORScan to programme a PATS key you will see the bit that advises you to try and add the extra key to make sure that it works first. If that fails then FORScan is unable to programme keys for your model and you should not use the delete all keys option. Fortunately it seems that you did only try to add a key and didn't delete all keys.

You only have two options on a 2014 model. Either an independent locksmith who will provide a 'cloned' key. This is something I would never recommend to anyone. Or you have to get a Ford dealership to do the work as @JW1982 has explained above.

Expect to pay £199 for a Ford dealer to provide one new keyfob and programme all keys  back in to the vehicle.

To be honest, that's a lot less than I thought, had in my mind much more from Ford!

the question is why should i pay someone 200 quid for 2 minutes work on a laptop when we have a law in this country that prohibits ford from stopping me do it myself,  its called the right to repair law and it states that manufactures must provide manuals, drawings and not make things inaccessible to repair
