hondansxr Posted May 26, 2022 Share Posted May 26, 2022 as above hi at my whits end ..2010 zetec s only done 64k miles , drives fine until it just starts to slow down on its own (like someone has turned the fuel off) then it just goes back to normal .It is sooo random, cambelt service plugs filters & leads 1 new fuel pump xx (no difference) 2 new throtle pedal .xx 3 new throttle body xx 4 sent ecu of to be tested the exchange unit that was supplied also xx so back to original 5 checked fuel lines for blockage xx 6 air flow meter had diagnostic on no faults logged also when it happens the trottle pedal / acc position does not change .. just dont get how it can do 20 miles no issue then bam then then it carries on ... i have tried to replicate going round islands x2 but no difference ... This turned out to be a sand-like material in the bottom of the carburettor float chamber (I said it was many years back! 😀) being sucked up into the jets in some conditions. I assumed it had got there via a dirty tank in a filling station. Obviously we are talking fuel injection with the Z-S, but is there anything not yet checked which could harbour similar debris, I wonder?
