Mu55er
Hi, My partners car had an engine light flash up on the dashboard, turns out to be a P0016 camshaft/crankshaft correlation fault. Had timing belt done,Changed camshaft/ crankshaft sensors,Changed VVT Valve,Oil Changed (5/40 Fully Syn) and new filter. Car runs better but code still on. I have cleared it with OBD and Hard Reset. Checked connections to cam and crank, 5v live, 5v signal, zero ground. I believe which is right?? Sensors are Bosch OEM. Checked connections to vvt 12v. Car only covered 34k. Anyone any ideas ???? Thanks
Papamack
What car/engine? After any work on the vvt system adaptations should be reset.
iantt
Was the timing belt done before or after the codes came up?
Mu55er
Papamack- Ford KA MK2 1.2L Petrol Ru8 I did a hard reset. Iantt- the timing belt was done after, as timing belt is one of the symptoms of P0016.
Papamack
I suspect the timing could still be out. Was the proper locking tools used when belt was changed?

iantt
It is so easy to get the timing out by one tooth and think it's right.
Papamack
I recommend taking it back ask them to double check the timing? As Iantt said very easy to be one tooth out. Would also ask them to reset adaptations? Seen cheap eBay locking tools cause this they need to be bang on.👍 1
Mu55er
Just out of pure interest, what is the location of Bank 1 Sensor A??? Is it a specific sensor??
Papamack
Not familiar with your particular engine but will usually find camshaft sensor in rocker cover. If it’s a single camshaft will only be 1 sensor if twin camshaft will have 2 sensors (can often swap sensor’s see if the fault moves) Worth checking the wiring/plugs. My guess is it’s a 8v single camshaft. Quick google search says 8v and sensor is located next to the oil cap.👍
Mu55er
It's baffling me as I've had Everything changed and still got this P0016 code. Could a faulty oxygen sensor cause this??
Papamack
No to the o2 sensor. Could still be a wiring issue or timing still out or could be reluctor ring on cam or crank.
