Post has now been locked as it has crossed the line and deteriorated dramatically from its original intention - a tribute to the Ford Fiesta !

Well, I had the "24 hour" test drive this morning but I'd had quite enough after 3 or so! As mentioned earlier, my objective was really to see if the 155 suited the Puma better, which I felt it d

Was going to 'start' this thread but see I'm well behind! LOL My first ever 'new' car was bought in 1982, a wonderful Mk1 Fiesta XR2. Cost me £4995 which I had saved for years to buy outright. I loved that car. Sadly in the days before camera phones so can't even find a picture of the old girl. Looked lovely resplendid in her silver paint, boy racer stripes, and a great rare RS bodykit I fitted!

Below a simple 'google' image of one...

That's about £16k in today's money

One does wonder, if Ford reckon there's no market for a small-ish electric hatch, why Stellantis bother with the Peugeot e-208, Vauxhall e-Corsa, Fiat 500 electric, the next Citroen C3, and Renault do the Zoe and are about to launch a new electric 5.

There's also the MINI electric, but as the next version is to be built in China, I won't say any more about that!

Well, it only had an engine, and a steering wheel LOL No fancy stereo, no electric windows, no electric mirrors, no lane assist, no auto wipers, no auto lights, no 'security', no central locking, no electric seats, no reverse camera, etc etc

Camera was totally unnecessary on the Mk 1. In contrast to the current version, the visibility was great!

And you could always use a Krooklock or Disclock. Come to think of it, thanks to modern "security" systems, many of us still do!😀

Ah, the "special edition". You've not posted a picture of that for, erm.............days!😀

Gutted with this news.  Currently have a Titanium X on a PCP deal and with this news, I have to think strongly about buying it outright once my deal is up (not until Feb 2024).

Absolutely love driving it and think it's an amazing car.

Genuinely think Ford are shooting themselves in the foot.

There is a reason why the Fiesta sells so well. Ford seems to forget that many people actually want a small hatchback or hot hatch instead of an SUV.

I suspect that many potential Fiesta buyers are not in the market for an SUV like a Puma. I would not be surprised if Ford loses customers to other manufacturers like Kia or Hyundai. The Kia Rio or Hyundai I20 Petrol or Hybrid seem good alternatives for a Fiesta.

I like them too and I don't even have one. They use up 70% of a shopping center car park space, whereas an SUV takes up 110% of the same space!

It's a shame! I don't understand why they gave it a facelift? it's only been out for 8 months or so? Im guessing it was suppose to last until 2024? lol

Wonder how long the ecoboost unit will be on sale for? I remember when it was introduced on the facelifted MK7's. Cant believe that was 10 years ago! Remember these pics? lol

Very sad to see the fiesta name go , I’ve had loads over the years and all have served me well. Currently drive a puma but I’d go back to a fiesta. Not a valid excuse from Ford to say everyone wants a SUV.

Yes, I do wonder about that from the number of people I know who've gone into a showroom interested in a Fiesta and found the salesperson trying to talk them into a Puma.

Great from Ford's viewpoint I guess, as it's basically the same component set but they get away with charging more for a Puma.

Unfortunately, as we know, the Fiesta, Focus and many other models from various marques are doomed by legislation, but it does seem Ford are actually trying to kill it off asap.

I could have been interested in replacing mine with a 155 mhev but they've deleted that and it seems unlikely to reappear now.

Read that Ford say there is a growing market for 'SUV' type vehicles.  Can't believe that there won't be a market for small hatchback EV models,  whatever the name might be.  Ford are usually very good at  predicting the market so I am surprised at the decision but they may have it wrong this time. (won't be the first time though).    It will  a huge gap for competitors to dive in and they may not get it back.

I'm on my third Fiesta Mk7/7A and they've all been excellent.

It's only the nameplate being discontinued.

There will probably be a small hatch EV from Ford, just not called Fiesta.

I wonder if they'll keep the same theme?  'Bostezo' perhaps...

This is the problem with statistics.  If Ford are basing their ideas of 'demand' around sales figures alone, and salesman are pushing Puma's instead, both for the extra commission and due to the lack of Fiesta's being built at times over the last year or two, that will make it appear that fewer people 'want' a Fiesta than in reality.

Could be a while though, can't see them developing a dedicated platform for that. In view of the EV platform sharing deal with VW, possibly something based on the ID 1 which is rumoured to be Polo-sized and due 2025?

If you want until the end, there are two cars yet to be announced. So it's clear they plan on replacing it with something a little bigger and electrified. I for one am excited to see what they can do.

(From Left, Puma Electric and Mustang Mach-E. Other 2 I can't work out)

Aahhh... the tell tale sign of youth. As you age, cynicism, and a feeling that you've seen it all before, will overtake you!

That video clip almost brought tears to my eyes. I have really loved all the Fiestas I have had and there have been many of them. Looking forward to the delivery of my new one, supposed build date tomorrow. No doubt this will be the last car I will ever drive, due to my age.

They all look quite big and tall to me (did someone say SUV?) so no thanks.

Totally agree! I find it odd that with the current hysteria of saving the planet, manufacturers have totally pushed towards vehicles that are so unnecessarily huge! Now, if you're a farmer wanting to drive across a freshly ploughed field, an SUV is probably perfect. But for nipping down the shops and picking the sprats up from school, you don't need to drive a tank...

More countries should implement a heavy car tax like France.
