Post has now been locked as it has crossed the line and deteriorated dramatically from its original intention - a tribute to the Ford Fiesta !

Well, I had the "24 hour" test drive this morning but I'd had quite enough after 3 or so! As mentioned earlier, my objective was really to see if the 155 suited the Puma better, which I felt it d

So sad 🙁

I've never owned one myself but have bought 6 or 7 for my family over the years. They were all very reliable, and excellent cars.

Yes I feel unreasonably sad about this too in way, and I'm on my 4th... it's somewhat poignant that the Fiesta configurator is still up, too (just checked). 🙁

My Mrs and I have had 6 - I wonder who holds the record on here?

Yes, it is a bit poignant about configurators remaining as a sort of "ghost". I recall you could configure a Rover for absolutely ages after the firm went belly up for the last time!

Wot, no ecobooms, then?😀

I also have the fond memory of not only owning one (a 1982 XR2), it also allowed me a name check in a national newspaper (The Guardian) when a journalist (Jasper Jolly) reached out to me on reading my post here when he did an article back in December 2022 on the demise of the Fiesta.

I'm on my third 'modern' Fiesta  - a Mk7 (?)2014 and all have given good service and driving experience.

My only Fords prior to this, years ago,  were two company Sierras (Mid eighties - jelly moulds), which I liked  and I even had a 1956 Ford  'upright' Popular  in the sixties (black, of course).  Quite quirky even then.

I wanted a Mk 1 XR2 back in the day but didn't manage it at the time (marriage/housebuying/divorce got in the way!). So having missed out on the first hot Fiesta 40 odd years ago I decided to grab the opportunity to have the last!

Surprised at you letting your name appear in The Guardian, though. You're not going woke are you?😀

I was also contacted by Jasper Jolly.  I'm pretty sad at the end of the Fiesta - I think I'll be going to Toyota or Mazda next.  I looked at a Yaris Hybrid last year - just seemed a bit boring

Interesting, there were 2 x name checks in his article, are you the founder of, 'motorway.com' then?

There was another name as well...literally the first line of the article!

I would urge caution about linking full names to public forum profiles though.

You're totally right, don't know how I missed that LOL

Just having a quick look on AutoTrader  and there are still 341 new Fiestas of most specs advertised on there.

Some of the pricing is interesting - seems to range from discounts of up to £2,000 or so to premiums over list on some of the fully specced STs.

Just seen the BBC's farewell to the Fiesta.  My condolences to the Fiesta community!

According to the BBC, "Changing times have meant the car isn't as popular as it once was."

Now, I'm wondering if, 'the car' is a reference to the car in general, or the Fiesta in particular 🤣

Or the fact that if you go to a Ford dealer to buy a Fiesta they try and force you into a Puma

Or that during the Covid pandemic and Ukraine war owing to supply problems Ford didn't make as many Fiestas as they used to. I waited ten months for mine so presumably if they had made more they could have sold more.

All a bit like the ticket office closure threat at the mo. They claim only 12% of tickets are sold from ticket offices, but fail to mention that almost half (43%) have been closed already and some of those are only open at inconvenient times.

The Breakfast  piece doesn't seem to have gone down too well!

Obviously the 2 x presenters are engulfed in their London celebrity lifestyle of getting tax payer paid taxis daily, and haven't a clue what a car really is...

And the next one to go will be the focus in  couple of years.

So in the last few years, the ka, b max, c max , grand c max, Mondeo, s max , galaxy , edge , assume EcoSport gone too( not seen any new ones of those recently)

Couple? I thought production ends next year?

Last thing I saw said 2025. Also means the end of the Saarlouis plant I believe, at least as far as Ford are concerned. I have seen speculation they might try and sell it to another manufacturer.

Such a shame eh?

I’ve been lucky enough to have had Ford Privilege and have experienced most of them new (all petrol):

1999 - KA2 Blue

2002 - Fiesta Flight

2003 - Focus Ebony (Mk1.5)

2007 - Focus Zetec Climate (Mk2)

2011 - Focus Zetec (Mk2.5)

2012 - Grand C-Max Zetec

2013 - Smax Titanium ecoboost (Still have)

2017 - Fiesta Zetec ecoboost

2018 - Fiesta St-line

2021 - Fiesta St-Line X (still have and probably will have for a while!)

Nearly at the end of the line with my Fiesta, selling at the end of the month and getting my new Kia. Had ordered a Fiesta ST but cancelled with waiting times and constant spec being changed/deleted.
