kewi
Hi Everyone, Just wondered if anyone else had had the same problem as me, I have lost all 4 of the plastic door mouldings and have lost these travelling down motorways. They start by flapping and then they disappear :0( I have spoken to ford about this and they said they have seen other cases but apparently they have been 'stolen'!!! I have only ever seen these missing on other 03/53 plate fusions and fiestas, anyone else out there thats had the same problem?
paul-eb
Hi Kewi, Yes these cars have that problem, mine is a 57 plate. My drivers side trim started to come away, so i looked behind where it started to peel and noticed NO mechanical method of fixing!!! These items are only glued on. I went to see a car body specialist who confirmed what i had found. He offered to fix the problem, so for £5 he re-glued the offending part. He used something like bath sealant, he said the area needs to be totally clean before applying the sealant, he then used masking tape to hold in place for 24 hours. Obviously he cleaned the excess sealant off. But be careful if you do it yourself, make sure you do not get any on the trim. Mine has been done nearly two years now and still totally secure. I have noticed another trim starting to peel, so will get that repaired too. Hope this helps you. Regards Paul.
Dan62
Yup, my rear offside one fell off (03 Fiesta 5dr), think the new one was about £17. Bad glue bond between the trim and the retaining clips.
CarlosManta
Yup, my rear offside one fell off (03 Fiesta 5dr), think the new one was about £17. Bad glue bond between the trim and the retaining clips. Same here, I lost two of them on the motorway. First I thought I ran into a plastic bag or something got stuck to the car. Then the flapping noise stopped and I forgot about it. The next day I saw the trims missing and thought someone stole them. I went to the Ford dealer, and asked them if them if it was common that the trims give away. They told me it is here very rare, and probably it was vandalism. I asked them how much replacements costed, and the guy answered, without hesitating, or even looking at a catalog or hos computer, "36,90 each". I learned two things. 1- It is definitely a common problem, for both the Fiesta and Fusion (the replacement part is the same). 2- I am not going to the same dealer again. I got the replacement parts. They are just a bunch of plastic glued together. Not even moulded together. The bad thing is that one needs to break away the remaining clips before inserting the new ones. After that I used an epoxy glue to join the new replacements to existing rubber or plastic in the door. It's just a case of bad design. If you notice that yours are starting to come off, just get them glued as soon as possible.

My earlier quote was to do with the Horizontal trims on the outside of the doors, it is those that had come away from the door skin.
LoneWolf
Hi All. My earlier quote was to do with the Horizontal trims on the outside of the doors, it is those that had come away from the door skin. mine started to come away again on my drivers door and this was reglued by ford. think its the bonding glue that they use
DexterToo
Had the same issue on my 53 plate Fusion. I had already re-glued them a few years ago, but the glue deteriorates, hardens and cracks in the sun/heat. A replacement cost around £18 from a Ford dealer on eBay. My Ford Fusion has had trim falling off on the motorway since I bought it two years ago! it looks awful and its dangerous, so when the trim starts to flap I remove it before it can cause an accident. Shoddy gluing I suspect. Its far more common than my Ford Dealer will admit.
Solen
I had exactly the same problem with my 03 fusion. Had to replace them in 2007 and again recently. Seems that the glue fails after about 4 years!
kv100
I just bought a second hand fusion (52) and one flew off on the M6 on the way home. Shouldn't this be a recall from ford as if these are flying off on motorways, it could possibly cause an accident?

shoonstu
I thought I was just unlucky when front passengers fell off. Rang Ford to find out a price (£20 odd) so was going to get it sorted when lo and behold the rear passenger one blew off due to extra wind from not having a front one!!! Tried some breakers but it's looking like t'eBay is the way forward.
Ceebie
Yes, a clear problem which my Ford dealer parts chap admitted; this on an '03 bought new and still have. Had to replace driver side pillar trim having failed to 'catch it' in time on a motorway - not a difficult job to 'click' the replacement in place; no glue involved. Managed to catch the passenger side when it wanted to go walkies ...also on a motorway, but secured it with black insulating tape which barely shows. Because of that I forgot about it and it's still fine!
Krose
Sorry to rehash this old topic, but can someone tell me what glue to use, my rear passenger plastic window trim has come off, clips are still there so i guess i just glue the 3 little squares on the trim but what glue do i use and where to get it from? Tiger Seal I been told but at £12 a tube it might be best just getting new trim Am trying some german equivalent mipa pu 400 polyurathan am told its virtually the same but half the price, hmmmm
Giffer2
I gave up with the glue route and now screw them in! Not come off since!
Bb2485
Tried a few glues to get this stuck on proper. Hot glue did the trick but must be read here'd sometimes in severe cold.
frogster_
Hey all, another door pillar trim issue here! I recently bought my Fusion 3 with the drivers door trim already missing & I've just received the replacement part. I'm attaching a photo of the problem. My question is, the clips from the previous trim are still attached to the door, how do I go about removing them - if indeed that is what I should do!? - before I fit the new panel? Any help greatly appreciated! :-)
Giffer2
Small flat bladed screwdriver and gently prise them off.
frogster_
Oh there was nothing gentle about it!! Thankfully fixed now but what a mission! There's a garage just down the road and between me and a trained mechanic + many tools, it took probably around 30 mins! Lovely car but terrible fault! :)
