Watching anything good on TV?

Gavin & Stacey - Final episode

Yes, we loved it too and have followed it from the start.

Mrs B and I have been suffering quite badly with one of the many lurgies going around, so our intended Xmas visitors cried off.

Which meant we could enjoy what we wanted to watch in peace along with a few bottles of wine! Tidy! 😀

The government has had 20 years to act on this issue, today's announcement was pretty disgusting. Far too little, far far too late... Bless ITV for bringing it to the world's attention!

I know I'm late to the party, but just caught up with this show. Must confess that I wanted to slap the owner of this 306! All niggly faults, but why would someone ignore them? Faulty door mirror, lea

The Sweeney

Today I binged on over 8 hours of The Sweeney. (New Years Day viewing not having much to offer!) I loved it - every episode being politically incorrect, language totally in keeping with the 1970s, some fleeting female nudity as Jack Reagan bed hopped with various women, plenty of smoking, and drinking.

Cameos by actors starting on their career like, 'Benny' from crossroads, Nicola Pagette (Avengers), several 'Heartbeat' starts.

And to Itv4s credit, not one single woke warning whatsoever on how upsetting GenZ citizens might find the whole thing. Oh, the cars, Mk2 Jaguars, Mk1 Escorts, Mk1 Cortinas, Mk1 Capris, the destruction of many cardboard boxes, all tire squealing at high pace. A lovely romp down memory lane...

It was the episode with Eric and Ernie that I remember !

Watching the new series of "SAS - Rogue Heroes". As before, a very entertaining watch but I do feel they have overdone the "rogue" bit. The true story is remarkable enough.

In particular, the depiction of "Paddy" Mayne is way over the top. From what I have read, he was undoubtedly a complex and somewhat troubled character (you could say the same about several wartime heroes) but not the near psychopath depicted in the series.

I see there have been complaints from his family, and also calls for him to be posthumously awarded a VC in addition to the DSO which he was awarded 4 times.

Flipping Bangers...

Have just stumbled upon this show and am already half way through all episodes on a binge catch up. Very simple premise, they buy a banger (£500 - £1500), get it running, do it up, with the aim for doubling their money.

I like it because they don't pretend to bring it back to concourse, just a reasonable runaround. Lots of very good close ups on actual work carried out, and a logical think through of all faults. They're big fans of rattle cans, on an MGB the intended 3 x patches to touch up, ended up on a full body respray using cans!

Being a huge fan of cars at the bottom of the food chain, this show is right up my alley!

Am currently in the thought process of getting rid of my Ford, tax, insurance and big suspension bills on the horizon. Have seen one am in love with a Peugeot 207 SW 2013 if i can pull a deal together with the seller. Have always run just above the bottom end of the market. Dont matter if you scratch or tap the bodywork long as the essentials are right.

I know this is off topic, as it's not, 'TV', but I just went to the cinema this weekend for the first time in years. Saw a newly released movie, 'Black Bag', a simply brilliant old fashioned spy thriller. No high body count, no car chases, just a gripping story and great script. Highly recommended...

Just been watching "last one laughing " on Amazon prime video. Might not be everyone's comedy but I was in tears of laughter through each episode.

Did anyone else watch the new series of Dave Gorman - Modern Life is Goodish?

I feel like there were only about 2 episodes and then it disappeared?  🤔

I'm hooked on Lost at the moment, just started series 6

I love his show, his mastery of PowerPoint is sublime! I could have sworn I watched more than 2 episodes?

Well, I guess one of us must be wrong here.

I might have missed one or even two, but series are usually 6 minimum nowadays and I'm sure the first one wasn't back at the beginning of Feb?

On a google, there were only 3 x episodes in series 6, that is a short series!

That explains it then.  Very short series!

Rising Damp...

Caught a few episodes of this 1970s sitcom today. Was amused that each episode was prefaced by a banner warning for the squeamish that the language is that of the time and some may now find offensive! I wish they'd do away with those warnings and start treating us like adults.

This show was compulsive viewing when it came out, hasn't aged well, but I had a thing for Miss Jones! (Please don't judge, I was young and the internet hadn't been invented yet 🤣)

Maybe just put a Red Warning Triangle in the corner 🤣

It sure did boost channel 4's viewing figures. Everyone use to watch the programmes with the red triangle, even though there was more s*x and violence in an episode of 'Tom and Jerry' 🤣

Maybe the Ford forum censorship policy hasn't been updated since last week's common sense ruling that like Trump, the UK now accept there are 2 x sexes, men, & women 😂

Haven't posted in this thread yet, but I recently got round to watching the Sky TV series of "The day of the Jackal" which was good. I don't think I have watched the 70's film, but will probably have to do so at some point.

@StephenFord being (technically) a 70's child (born at the end of 79) I still enjoy the comedies of yester years. When I see the warnings about the language of the time, I think that it could quite easily be replaced with this:

Change channel now.

I know it's not technically, 'TV' but I just finished watching a YouTube from someone I recently subscribed to, Tasty Classics (Ben). Now, not in the same league as Mat Armstrong, but he takes cars most would convert into a cube of metal, and gets them running again. I just watched one on the 2007 Ford Focus ST, and loved it. Though I do have an affection for that particular car. The rust underneath surprised me, but beautifully sorted...

If you want to see a real rust bucket I watched a recent Car SOS on a Mustang. There wasn't really much left of it after around 30 years stored unused. I was surprised they even took it on. Even the engine was unusable and had to be replaced.

I saw that, also reminded me of the restoration shown in Bangers & Cash where an old Mimi Cooper S was a 'barn find', honestly, it was just a pile of rust where the real value came from having the original numbered chassis! Looked amazing after about a million hours work LOL

Great job there! You've now reminded me though of a "wish I'd done that but didn't" experience about 15 years back. My usual Ford dealer offered me a cracking deal on one sat in their showroom, a cancelled order. Now I've re-started kicking myself for not going for it!😀
