  • You should really only post jokes in the "have a laugh" forum 🤣

  • The files have been found unofficially. It’s probably just an error that’s it’s built the map update without them. Probably won’t be long before it’s available.

  • Appears map update is available on Ford web site at last.

Further update to previous - Map F13 has installed even though website reports wrongly about another

Lets hope when I go out tomorrow it works fine

The decent speed dropped to 5kbs and then stopped!

other download in the house are fine so it must be Ford servers?? Trying for the third time!

My first download failed half way through. Second download success. Unzipped to a exfat usb. Put in car this morning and immediate ERROR flashed up.

Downloaded again this morning and failed right at end of download. Downloaded again using a different browser. Success again unzipped to a exfat usb. Will hopefully see what happens tomorrow when I try and loaded it to the car.

I alway use a download manager for the big map updates.

Alex, which one? Is it free?

Thanks I’m not a Firefox user. I’ll search the www

Looks like my second attempt has been successful. No ERROR message when fitted to car just "indexing maps" then "updating". Next question. Is the maps update the same as the Sync update? With sync it updates over a number journeys and restarts from where it leftoff on the previous journey. Does the Maps update do the same or has to be done in one go?

Ideally you'd want to complete the installation in one hit but yes it should resume if incomplete.

Hi Steve

Thanks for that. Trouble is my next long trip is next March. Had two short trips this morning and both times it came up as "Installing software" so looks good at the moment. If it fails down the line will have to wait till March and try again on the long trip.

Sit in the car with tablet to view and do it in one go. At least it finishes in one go. Stop starting it can cause problems

I've just done my F13 maps today.  The download was 23.* GB, took about 2 hours or thereabouts, left it downloading whilst I popped out.  Put onto a fresh usb drive.

Disconnected all usb and phone, did a master reset, did the new map install.  The damn install is a good 3.5 hours with the key cycles. Went for a drive, got back, still on the drive forever but finally it finished and acknowledged the update to F13.

Really not sure why this takes so long, and as been said before, no progress indicator, mad. Also would be better if you could just update required maps, e.g. just UK

Any experts wish to comment on the UK only option?

I too did wonder whether you could just update the common map package along with just the UK map update, and whether it would then show F13.  Or whether you actually need to do the whole update?!

Well I must be lucky. My stop start attempt has worked. Three of short trips and an out garage for car wash and it was done. That is eight stop starts and some mileage. Somewhere in my tiny brain I seem to remember something about when you switch the ignition off the download will continue for about 10 to 15 minutes till all the car electronics fully shut down.

This being the case eight stops would give between 1 hour 20mins to 2 hours plus about 20 mins for actual journey times. xml file also downloaded itself to the USB. Car display show F13 maps.

So as I said maybe I was just lucky but it appears you can just stick a USB in and forget about it and let the car do its thing.

Why bother with all this. I just plug in my phone and use Apple Maps on Apple Car Play!

Going to Bristol tomorrow, was hoping to do it on the round trip. But download says between 16 and 20 days.......

Nice Christmas present!

Straight after clicking 'submit', Internet slowed down... checked download, less than 2 hours to go! So soaking up my bandwidth - will it finish before tomorrow????

It failed.....

Tried again the next day, downloaded in 35mins, extracted to thumb drive, put it in the car, couple of journeys later it was done!

Well finally got around to installing the F13 maps (the Ford official way), which didnt go quite as smoothly as I had hoped (and had done in the past);

First install process took 1.5 hours and then the system reset itself and then started the second lot of installation.  However, it seemed to all go wrong when I had to reverse and the rear camera came on.  Once I had finished the manoeuvre, it said all had been installed, which was a complete fallacy.

I checked the memory stick and no log had been produced, so I produced the logged file and found only the first half had completed successfully.  Then edited the autoinstall file to just do the second section, and went on another journey.  1 hour later the install was complete.

Then had to do a master reset as the system was saying the voice files werent ready, and all now seems well.
