Modding Escort Van Mk6

Recommended Posts

Hiya mate, wow you've been busy! That's some great work you've done there, really impressed.

Those Speakers sound really nice, exactly what I need to upgrade my system. It's really tinny, and I love listening to music in my car so will get my MOT out of the way at the start of next month and then go about upgrading my Speakers. Am happy with the Ford headunit it's just the Speakers aren't too good.

If you send me a PM mate, I have got hold of a PDF for the Ford diesel engine from a Haynes manual. Will email it over to you once I have your email address - it's great because you can print it out and then you don't have to worry about getting the book damaged.

Cheers,

Dan

hi every one, need some advise , i have an old work van which i now use for my general transport its a mk6 1.8 diesel 55 , its in fair condition and been a really good work horse , it sailed through its last mot and i begrudge selling it for a car as its handy having a van , ive never modified a vehicle but i'm quite mechanically minded .Here's the question , i want to replace the rear doors with a single hatch type door , does any 1 have any experience on this and is it costly ? ive seen the un sprayed doors on ebay etc but they are bare bones with no hinges or catches , Any help on this i would be really greatful

cheers Ray

hi m8 thats some thing im looking to do..... from what i gather u buy the rear single door ..remove hinges from the side and get estate car boot hinge welded back on to the top inside crossmember then use a estate car rear door mechanism(lock) and catch. or simply got to a auto electrics and get them to install a door lock and popping system then u need to fit the gas shockers (or a broom handle ) i suppose a bonnet stay would do, to keep it up ..fitted i think about 170 maybe 300 depending on if u can weld ..

handy if u can drill, weld . bodge to fill in where the old hinges wer and spraypaint ..or got the hole van resprayed .as like mine i bet not all the pannels match anyway as the paint was rubbish on the vans ...

the fault was due to the stop tail bulb holder had burnt out and took out the earth so more chopping wires out and re soldering then going mental in for parts desk when they wanted £27 for a bit of plastic to hold the bulb.. this must b a common fault on this van as every scrapyard i found with a van in had none of the holders in dammit ..

can any one tell me where the reversing light switch is .. as the reversing lights are working intermittently now god dam it ...yes its defo the switch .. help or ill just b wiring a switch in the dash soon ..
