caroden
I just found a very nice (new) set alloy wheels for my 2012 C-MAX. It's an 18" set with 235-45/18 tyres. Does this fit? My Ford reseller says normally 235-40/18 is used for a C-MAX. (it;s an original Ford set of wheel from a S-MAX)
Preee
Can't see why there would be a problem , only 5mm difference in tyre wall
caroden
I thought might be a problem with wheel/tyre height? Total height is 2.5 cm. more.
btmaldon
That is a big difference. Your speedo will be out but also the gearing. It may feel sluggish trying to get up to speed and you will find yourself having to change down more often.
caroden
OK, thanks! Speedo I don't really mind but gearing could be a serious issue.

gregers
if they dont fit,you can give em to me ;) :D
btmaldon
The only calculation you can make is the circumference of the original compared to the larger circumference of the replacement. The difference being the additional travel required to complete a revolution. Not being a mathematician (just a humble accountant) I don't know how to work out the additional power required to get up to speed. With a Turbo it will be less noticeable. Years ago I had a 1.6lx Mk1 Focus, and I fitted a set of alloys from a Special Edition version that used the same size wheels and tyres as the Zetec. The diameter was 19mm greater (3.19%. Acceleration was reduced noticeably, the speedo reading was 5mph less but worst of all was the mid range torque on motorways was awful. I had to drop down a gear to accelerate anywhere under 65mph. It was great once it got up to 85 but mid range it was useless.
caroden
if they dont fit,you can give em to me ;) :D No problem but you have to collect them at the other side of the Northsea in the Netherlands :D :D
caroden
I think it's best not to buy this set of alloys. Or buy the set and replace the tyres with the right size. Anyone interested in a set of tyres ;) Thank you all !
gregers
what sort of alloys are they, and how much are they?? and i might be intrested in the tyres??
caroden
No, I was just joking about collecting them in NL. I have not bought them yet and I just decided not to buy them at all.
