Has anyone actually fitted the egr blanking plate to their mk3 1.6 tdci focus and I stress mk3 simply because of all the photos posted there is a difference in how the engines look between the mk2/2.5 and mk3. Ok they're essentially the same engine but I'm sure ancillaries are different. I've ordered a blanking plate with a gasket and want to know if it is/was easy to do on the mk3.

Been doing some reading here and there and whilst researching teraclean I came across a company that has a product Archoil. AR6400D has rave reviews so I've ordered some of it (diesel additive to clean carbon etc build up) and their engine flush which again got rave reviews.

I use Archoil - one of the very best i.m.o.

Sold by power enhancer in the U.K. - very high quality professional products :)

Hi, I have a 1.6 Focus and I buy a Egr blanking plate but then I repaired that it was 1.5 aluminium do you think that it can break or I have to buy one of stainless steel ? :(

Get stainless steel, aluminium will burst through

Aluminium is likely to melt - it must be stainless steel

never use aluminium blanking plate,

They melt and break through dumping metal in to your engine very bad indeed.

Stainless Steel is king 👍

Ok

Thanks

The seller already sold 900+ plates for the 1.6 TDCI and he didn't had any problem till this point, and also the plates look good quality aluminum of 1.5mm

basically what im reading is; the seller has potentially harmed over 900 Citröen,Peugeot engines and has no problem with it because there making a profit from it.

There's many businesses operating like that both legal and illegal ☺

It takes a different C&C machine to cut stainless steel perhaps the seller doesn't have this type of C&C machine.

there are many suppliers of the Stainless Steel plates

I'm not pushing sales for Any particular only the material construction matters.

I'm not saying that the seller hasn't potentially harmed over 900+ engines, and I agree with you steel is king, but what I don't understand is why mostly 900 buyers didn't had any problem with it.

Is it because the alu used is fairly good quality or it only had melted in extreme cases or in cases of very minimum thickness ?

I think that in my opinion it can be a lot of cases involved, but like you say steel is king and if possible go for the best if you like your engine :)

Thing is psgskull, how would they know until it's too late? You buy a blanking plate today, it arrives tomorrow the right size etc, you say "great postage speed, good cost, product fits" short while down the line when something bad happens and what can you do?! Can't re review the guy....

That being said, I better take a magnet to that blank plate I have lying around somewhere..

Did you had aluminium on yours ?

I was waiting to recive it this week so guess it goes to the drawer when it comes then. :(

Remember that there are two places where the plate can be used - the very, very, very hot place is at the exhaust outlet & the other very, very hot place is at the EGRV exhaust inlet.

Neither is suitable for an aluminium blanking plate i.m.o.

Haven't checked yet, I'll let you know when I do, although it'd probably be ages as I have a thousand things to sort out...

The plate arrived today and I decided that I'm going to put it temporarily till I order the stainless steel one and keep an eye on it.
