Update:

Had a close look at the washer bottle and good news its not leaking,

I've found a T piece has been used instead of a 90 degree elbow,

The unused port on the T piece was plugged using a screw and some silicone causing it to leak.

One job I thought would be a cheap one,

Replacing the windscreen washer pipe from the pump to the jets on the bonnet.

I first chose the colour blue since the HT ignition leads are already blue and I think it goes well with the black body work,

So a quick look at what I had to replace,

Found the internal bore of the pipe to be 4mm and overall size 6mm

Shopping list then was,

1 x barbed 4mm Y split connector

4 x barbed 4mm Male-Male straight connector

1 x barbed 4mm 90 degree elbow

3 x 1 metre blue washer hose 4mm internal

Purchased as many items as possible from the same seller to save on shipping from Uk to Ireland,

Bill still total 38.73euro

And that's without replacing the jets aswell  but it should look good and last another 10 years,

I did save 10.72 GBP on shipping by purchasing all items togeather suppose I'm feeling it because the euro is weak agents the pound at present and the cost of shipping has increased in all country's not to mention eBay fee's

On the up side though

I picked up a pair of 7 SMD 6000k BA9s12v T4w interior light bulbs for 4.75euro including shipping from the uk

So one canceling out the other; its not too bad.

Change the standard bulbs to led

Image3929_zpsd5af41a7.jpg

When they arrive I think I'll just repair the existing pipe with a straight connector and wit until the car has been re-sprayed next year before going ahead with installing the coloured pipe encase we encounter a Neil Young moment and go out of the blue and in to the black

Lenny, a lot of sellers might have either cheaper or free shipping to England. Check out Parcel Motel to take care of shipping. I have used it numerous times in the past and no issues. If the item is free shipping to United Kingdom, register a Parcel Motel account, get it shipped to Antrim, and then it is shipped to you in Ireland where you can collect it in the numerous locations around the country. Just check off their website is there is a Parcel Motel near yours.
3.50 euro per parcel delivered to Ireland. That's one way that I save on shipping :)

ROFL> What kinda skirts is he thinking of getting for himself? That is a lot for postage now. Must be some really fancy skirts.

I think he should have a Vicki Fund as well from now on for when he buys stuff for the new car. Christmas is fast approaching :P

Here's the skirts mate,

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Toyota-AE101-Trueno-Sprinter-OEM-Rare-TOMS-Side-Skirts-/221182027954?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337f79e8b2

There from the 1992-1995 model AE-101 they fit the AE-111 and look better than the standard skirt,

There like hens teeth and I was only having a conversation with Victoria this morning and I decided to inform her that I had spotted a set.

If there still there in January I may consider purchasing but with only 5 pay days left to Christmas

I won't be spending that kind of money on mods this year,

Here's the standard AE111 facelift skirts

Image3813_zps0fb06f57.jpg

And here's the AE101 preface lift skirts fitted on my mate steads AE101 that he's self built to AE111 spec and sprayed Nissan Silvia charcoal grey rolling on coilovers looks sweet

IMG_0152_zps98361888.jpg

In fairness Lenny. the skirts do look nicer than the stock ones. But like you said, it's a fair chunk of money before x-mas.

Btw, I really like the current alloys. Powder coat them Gun Metal grey and you have a nice spare set now. And definitely lowered stance for the car for the future :)

Thanks Hassen,

I'm sure I'll pick up a set next year if not those ones in January,

Id only be resting them in the attic until June/July next year when spraying anyway s might as well keep an eye out for a more postage friendly set.

Thanks for commenting on the alloys, they are in bad need of refurbishing and the centre caps are missing, on close inspection the rims are buckled on the lip rim aswell as a lot of kearbing, however they will keep the car suspended until funds allow for a set of rota's

Then I'll keep those for winter usage.

The lowered stance is definitely on the list for future mods because I can't afford to replace the existing suspension setup should it fail me,

The Levin bzr can with "super strut suspension" it functions differently to a standard suspension setup because it has a double wishbone style front connection and rally style cross bars on the rear sticks to the road like mad

Biggest difference I've noticed is when throwing the car in to corners at speec you dont feel the lateral G force at all

I don't like not feeling lateral G feedback perticuraly on the rear because without that feeling I don't know how much further I can push it before she slips sideways

Anyways

The super strut suspension to replace from Toyota will cost around 375euro per corner excluding fitting.

On the happy said of things though,

The suspension from a Toyota corolla year 1998-2000 will fit the Levin bzr straight swap and its non super strut,

This also means that a fully adjustable coil over suspension kit for he corolla with fit the Levin getting rid of the super strut black cloud that looms.

Also once removed it can be sold onwards to reel back some cash invested in the coilovers

Hi all,

Been a few weeks since I was online,

I had a series of progress on here to date but sadly it was lost by a "forum error"

So I'm now going to repeat the update for anyone interested aswell as my own record keeping.

As mentioned in a previous post; I found the windscreen washer bottle is not leaking,

Previous owner replaced an elbow joint with a T piece joint then used a screw to block the unused outlet of the T

Leaking constant,

Image3933_zps2cb9746e.jpg

So I took the opportunity to replace the full washer pipe system with some blue pipe, looks much better and performs well.

Old pipe:

Image3953_zpscd54b614.jpg

Image3954_zpsbb3a9251.jpg

Used as a template to measure up replacement pipe

Image3955_zps5c31e484.jpg

I must get a picture up here with the blue pipe now in place, looks much better.

Moving on from this

The lambda Oxygen Sensor.

As ive previously mentioned, I'm currently in waiting on a group purchase to get a genuine lambda sensor from Toyota japan,

For some unknown reason the lambda sensor fitted to the car on purchase had its loom removed and the sensor broken in half as you can see below:

Image3969_zps3f8c1885.jpg

The lambda sensor or oxygen sensor as some like to call it; functions by sensing the amount of fuel vapours are in the exhaust gasses, it sends signals to the ecu which then regulates the fuel accordingly,

Now most modern cars use a MAF sensor mass air flow in the induction chamber and a lambda sensor in the exhaust both working to regulate the air/fuel ratio

But because the engine in the Levin is running quad throttle body induction, it doesn't have a MAF sensor,

It Realise heavily on the oxygen sensor to regulate itself from running lean.

So fitting a replacement lambda sensor is a priority,

I'm still waiting for a fifth customer to join the group purchase but in the meantime I have picked up a lambda from a 1997 1.3ltr Toyota corolla on eBay,

It arrived two weeks ago,

Image3966_zps2f836c8e.jpg

I jacked up the car again,

Quick spray of WD-40 on the M8 nuts and off with the old lambda,

On comparison the broken sensor that was on the Levin was a non genuine unit,

It has more passive holes than the genuine Toyota replacement however the Toyota part number on the replacement is different to the lambda specifically designed for the Levin.

Image3971_zps9ae2284a.jpg

Image3972_zpsfb4865b5.jpg

Image3973_zps72fc58a1.jpg

Anyways fitted:

Image3975_zpsdefbc531.jpg

Best 3 euro winning bid ever spent on eBay

It works!

The engine now idles at 900-1000rpm instead of 1200-1400 and picks up a lot better on 3000-9000rpm when VTi comes on.

It is a different Toyota part number but will keep the car from running lean until the proper replacement comes through,

Checked for OBD errors after fitting and there's now none at all :)

Moving on from this I decided to upgrade the interior light to led.

The bulbs required were 12v T4W

Image3960_zps1c709e34.jpg

Picked up a set on eBay for under 5 euro make a great difference, although a bit tricky to fit, well worth the efforts.

Image3961_zps02f7938f.jpg

Image3962_zpsa5afe6ca.jpg

Image3963_zps91f81cfe.jpg

Image3964_zps0d7f9824.jpg

cleaned up the replacement windscreen ready for fitting early January too:

Image3965_zpsbe4e3593.jpg

I've got to call in to Toyota and order a replacement rubber windscreen surround seal in time for fitting in January,

I called in to the local Toyota dealership for the first time ever last week,

After recent dealings with ford dealerships I'm no longer under the illusion that when I step inside the door I am among friends and supporters,

Every dealership regardless of name overhead is full of cash cowboys.

However I must praise the ford service department compared to Toyota,

When purchasing parts from ford the don't expect you to pay for the parts until they have them on the counter to give to you.

Toyota request money up front prior to ordering the part in for you, and since my model is a Japanese import the told me under no circumstances do they accept returns on parts imported from japan.

Anyways,

I went in with the part numbers for the standard exhaust muffler bracket, 57.24euro cash up front on Thursday,

Got a text message at 11am the following Saturday to say the parts were ready for collection,

So here they are:

Call me optimistic but for 57.24 Id expect to get two nuts and washers aswell

Upper bracket

Image3958_zps9556fcd7.jpg

Lower Bracket

Image3959_zps6b78c493.jpg

Image3957_zps733f8195.jpg

  • Author

Here is the standard exhaust system,

Image3908_zpsfc1f600f.jpg

The bracket clamps around the muffler box,

But before fitting I need to purchase the rubber exhaust hanger, I was hoping they would have a parts database much like ford where if they enter one part number, other associated parts appear in an image form,

But it seems not,

I need to go back with the VIN to purchase the part.

Finally then on the progress update,

Irishnumberplates.com sent me an email last week with discount code XMAS13

So I took the opportunity to replace the broken rear jap style reg plate with a fresh new one.

I managed to remove the broken plate which was secured with some steel bolts in one piece,

I taped it tight to the new plate; using the old plate as a template for drilling the replacement,

I then fitted the new plate using some nylon reg plate bolts from halfords the car has now become more MOT compliant.

Image3978_zps146fa44c.jpg

Image3979_zps27ef7660.jpg

Image3980_zpsc0a33475.jpg

Next on the plan

Is to source a place to reupholster the headlining in black Alcantara most likely be January,

I've gotta replace spark plugs, order windscreen rubber surround and exhaust rubber hanger,

After that its windscreen & exhaust fitting time in January along with repairing the oil leak maybe paint the calipers then too.

I'll update at things progress.

Looking good Lenny, that keep fit trampoline doesnt look like its been used in a while lol, not been on for a while as work is manic and also doing a bike project at the moment

The trampoline is part of our fire escape plan mate jumping from upstairs bathroom window

The neighbours cats like to sleep on it most mornings seem them lying on it.

Haven't been online much myself neither working 6 days a week and internet was down for a while.

Id love a bike but Id kill myself for sure mate.

What bike is it harly style or ninja style ;)

Neither, 1994 yamaha dtr125, bought it off mate blown up cos he 22 clem and its a 125 2 stroke thats 19 years old lol, engine stripped and its junk so got another, then updated the look by changing the tank seat, plastics etc from newer spec, then thought I want to supermoto it, so bought a set of aprilla rs125 wheels and been making them fit, once all trail fitted complete strip down, blasted and coated and painted then rebuild and use in summer for commute.
