Rossbclarke123
Hi All, I was reading through a post but can't seem to find it anywhere, but somebody made reference to many people on here having gripes with Allen Fords. I would just like to know why if people don't mind saying? I use a Allen Fords for all my new cars. Thanks
Nathan_M
Doesn't really count but I have brought a few things through their amazon parts department and all have been tip top, saves me driving 20 miles to my nearest dealer. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Ford OC mobile app
btmaldon
I've only used them for getting parts via eBay and once they sent me a dog guard for a mondeo instead of a Focus Zetec S Grill. Apart from that they were great. They have more than one dealership and it may just be a bad experience someone has had at one of them. My local Ford dealer is Lookers and I don't have a bad word to say about them but I'm sure someone else probably has.
jeebowhite
Basically they did a lot of us over. they advertised parts on their website at a good price (a pair of washer jets for about £13 IIRC). We all put orders in and some of us where immediately rejected, told that the part was not going to be sold at that price. Others (like me) where left for 2 weeks under the impression that the purchase was going through. I called them up and demanded to speak to the manager. Long story short, I caught them out on their Terms and Conditions, they had committed to the purchase by telling me that the part had been shipped, thus ensuring that they had to continue with the sale. I then got some spiel about how the Terms and conditions could be interpreted either way. I bluntly corrected them and quoted various sales of goods acts, and demanded they continue with the contract as is blatantly shown in their terms and conditions. They then started playing games, and all of a sudden I had been refunded. It seems that the system had magically resolved itself and issued me a refund, thus cancelling the order. Now as there was no order to complete, I was told that I would have to purchase the jets at the newly listed price of £30 odd. They played games with a lot of us, some on other purchases that they couldn't fulfill, but they really don't abide by their own Terms and Conditions, but expect you to!
btmaldon
I hadn't seen that James. Totally out of order and probably trying to cover up their own screw up. I'm surprised they were willing to risk damaging their reputation for what would have been a relatively small impact on their profits. But then there are a lot of stupid people in business as I find quite regularly.
Rossbclarke123
Thanks for the replays Nathan, James and Bruce, I have personally never had any issues and always purchased from their, same sales man every time, but your issue with washers does seen unfair James. Google also throws up some horror story's.
Rossbclarke123
Yes I'm sure the profits would not have been damaged greatly at all by honouring the price they advertised!!
jeebowhite
Agree entirely! Maybe the washers was a one off, but its dented my confidence enough that I would rather go elsewhere and pay a slightly higher cost than to faff around with them on the offchance they may stuff me over, or may actually sell what they promise as they promise! As you say for a very small dent in profits, it would have given them a lot more in custom over the long term had they actually obliged the sale at the price. I get that system errors occur and pricings can be mixed up, however, when they get as far as they did into a contract then they should have honoured it, and for that reason I cant trust them as far as I can throw there business!
