I'll second that. It's not a "fast" car. It's a small, sportier looking, "quick" yet still comfortable version of a very well thought of hatch.

Aye, it is just interesting if nothing on a technical level about how Ford achieved what they did on this car which is markedly different to their own approved Mountune ZR MP work and also where they pitched the product.

Incidentally a little off-piste but we're talking about 3 tunings of the same engine & drivetrain. Btw Riordan - this engine is supposed to have overboost but I don't believe they can advertise it in the UK. Perhaps Overboost kicks in hard in 3rd/4th on the red/black and is used to provide those interesting figures.

Aye panjuice you are right. It has overboost that goes around 20.5 psi on 3rd and 4th gear...

Well heres my experiense with the black edition.. Got it 1 des 2014.. ofter under 2 km from the shop first error message came up.. engine needed service it said. something wrong with the turbo.. no power.. did take it back to the shop the next day. one small hose in was loose. so the turbo did not do the job.. final i had the power.. loved it but after day 4 i got lots of errors again.. wont start in the first 5 to 10 tryes.. back to the shop.. got a service time the next week.. but the day before the service/repair. the car died. Nothing did work.. well radio did work but thats all.. back to the shop with a tow truck.. and then it was standing there for a month. they had a hard time figuere out what it was. in the end they had to replace the head unit /instrument panel . now its fine they said.. this was friday 09,01,2015. picked it up and drove home..its like 7km finaly i got my car back.. later that evening i wanted to take it out for a ride again.. and the same problem was back. wont start and nothing works on it. had it towed back to the shop.. At this point i dont want this car anymore. i want a new one.. But when it runs it runs great. loved the little rat..

I agree, I've never heard of such problems on a brand new car. The dealer should provide a similar courtesy car while they source a new car to replace it. You should get what you paid for, not what is basically a useless ton of metal.

its not the dealer thats poor or bad. they give me great service.. my wife has a focus from them also had other cars repaired in that shop. love the guys there.. but they can do what they wont with the fiesta due to new car warranty. its ford company that tell my shop what to do and not to do. Thay had experts from sweeden to look at it. they have given it up. Now there are experts in germany thats trying to find out what went wrong.. Also bosh is involved now. but i want a new car. this car is clearly a MONDAY car. as we say here in Norway.

Hope I don't have an experience like that. New to the forum and have got a pick up date of 1st march for my ZS Red edition and cannot wait. My first ever new car at the ripe old age of 42. Had a few interesting issues with dealers over used cars but you tend to expect a bit of that when buying second hand, but not with a new car. Isn't there a period of time during which you are within your rights to refuse a car if you have given the dealer the opportunity to fix it and they haven't?

here in norway i cant demand a new car before the same error happends for the 3th time.. but they are now in progress of finding a new car here in norway. A expert from germany is comming to check the car out 15,01 and if he cant sort it out. im getting a new car..

Good to know Ffoxy, wasn't really that worried to be honest as I have been running a ford for over 3 yrs and 65k miles and had no problems at all. However you do hear horror stories. By far the majority on here are super positive which is one of the reasons why I went for a red edition. Plus is was a hoot to drive.

Fantastic fun. I had a White ZS E 1.0 125 for a year then simply HAD to have this Black Edition.

My daughter has a Red Edition and she loves that too!

Know what you mean. Went a bit mad with optional extras but still got a good deal. Looked at a Mini Cooper but couldn't justify the extra cost for what I wanted. Also the Red handled and rode a lot better, which was a surprise to me in all honesty. Glad I tried it out. Wouldn't have had as much fun driving to work and would have also been poorer if I had gone for the mini.

The 3 cylinder thrum is addictive too!

Thats just bad luck, def reject the car, probably something small, but who's to say that something larger won't happen, good luck and keep us up to date on the story

Collecting my Red Edition tomorrow! It's been a wait (since the end of September), but that's my fault for option picking.. I have a good four hour drive home, so looking forward to that.

What options did you go for? I ordered mine just before xmas and have until 1st March to wait. It's going to be a struggle.
