Hi there,

I have changed my battery today but managed to get the socket stuck on the negative terminal bolt. I have attached a photo.

My physics knowledge tells me there shouldn't theoretically be a problem but wouldn't know for sure in the context of a car battery.

Photo attached.. any comments appreciated. Plus, any tips/tricks on how to get it off? #

Grr! :(post-60830-0-76006600-1421601812_thumb.j

Yep that's it I can see it now.

Sounds to me like the nut has distorted slightly and caused the socket to lock on - common problem and not a big deal. quick tap with a hammer will remove it.

Either that or put a wrench on the socket again and try to tighten it slightly, or undo it and if the socket isn't too stuck it should free off.

I did this on my earth bolt about 2 month ago. The best way to do it, is to take a pair of locking pliers, fit them around it, lock the socket and wiggle it free.
