Kye
Hello folks. I need some help. I have said car with the EGR valve blanked off. It has thrown up a load of error codes. I've taken the plate off and looked into the valve and is very caked up. Can anyone advise ways to clean it? I was thinking a good squirt of EGR cleaner/ WD40. How would this affect the turbo and DPF? The codes are: P0047- Power train P0101- Power train Mass Airflow P2263- Power train- Turbo boost system U1900- Network P0383- Power train P0646- Power train- A/C Clutch P2141- Power train- EGR Throttle control P0380- Power train- Glow plug. The P0047 and U1900 error popped up every now and then. The rest have all come up today. The car went into limp home mode. Can anyone suggest anything else I can try/ do? I'm really hoping I don't need a garage! Cheers all. Kye
david4587
Hello, Thats quite strange. I have a mk2.5 2.0 tdci too and have also blanked my egr, but the only fault I get is "egr circuit high" constantly, which I ignore. Seems odd it would affect so much :S Dave. MONDEO TXS 2.2
If the E.G.R.V. is blanked it's pointless cleaning it as the blank renders it inoperative.
david4587
Do these faults go away when you take the blanking plate out?
Kye
Rather strangely, it was all a result of Piggybacking the DRL's off of the 'valves' fuse. Number 35 or 34, something like that. Took the piggy back out and it all went back to normal. Very strange given that I used that same fuse with the previous (and same) DRL kit. david4587
Its not for power gain, just to stop dirty black crap going back into the cylinders
MONDEO TXS 2.2
No, but your engine will live much longer ! :)
Kye
I got a bit more response out of the car doing it, rather than a power increase. The turbo started to do something at around 1500- 1600 rather than 1800 rpm. Blanking the EGR and putting a better quality air filter on the car made a pretty noticeable change in response and acceleration. Now the remap though..... ;)
