Although primarily on here as I own a 1997 Escort Ghia, my camper van has a Transit base, so please could I pick the brains of you good Transit owners.

On a long run recently the water in fuel light came on intermittently while going up hill, it was raining heavily at the time, have tried to drain the filter as per manual but all that came out was a hiss of air, no water or fuel, is this normal as I was expecting a little water followed by some diesel

Does it do it on level ground ? Or only when going uphill ?

Yes only on an incline, and it did not stay on, just a couple of seconds every now and then

You said it hissed - air has water in it - so maybe a tiny airlock when going uphill ?

There's obviously a fuelling issue somewhere, I'd take it to a diesel specialist

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? What engine is it? The older2.5 or 2.4 duratorq?

It's the older 2.5td with 45 on the clock, runs like a dream, but unsure when filter was changed
