I worked for Mintex 35 years ago in the R and D department and one of our managers told me the tale of having received a complaint from a Yorkshire Dales farmer that his brake pads kept catching fire, so he went to investigate. Upon examining the vehicle he found that the brake pads had been replaced by blocks of wood (presumably similar to the above picture !!!) 😲😲

    Why the horror? I've had lots of cars with disc front/drum rear and they've been fine. Front brakes do most of the work anyway and quite often a drum rear gives a more effective handbrake.

  • Can't believe Ford still use drums on such an expensive & large car in this day and age, a bit of a disgrace.
