Hes doing it next week I believe. I have a trim removal kit Mikey but it seems a bit 'thick'. Where abouts do I pop the black centre cover off (the shiny one around gear stick) - where are the clips located as I don't want to snap it by ramming things in and just trying to bend it out

Yeah, doing it next week. I'm like James. Don't want to snap things off. I'm just going to unscrew in-clip and hope for the best. Is there any pointers Mikey?

I've ordered a similar tools kit to what James has, £3.50 not sure if it will help but give it a go.

What needs to come off to fit the armrest. Obviously the centre console.

Gear stick surround? Heat control surround?

Yep I think so, I think first is gear knob and leather surround then shiny black pieces will come out easier and then you unscrew centre console out

Every bit on the pictures needs to come off dont worry about breaking anything not once has anything broke on me be prepared the black shiny heater surround is a bit of a bit** and u will feel like u will break it but its tuffer than u think that is the hardest bit after that really easy

  • 2 weeks later...

Fingers crossed. Fitting my armrest tomorrow...

wish me luck 😉

Funny story..

Sat in the drivers seat of my dads new ZS. Climbed in, first thing I did. Bang my elbow on the armrest.

Went to turn the radio on to have a play around on the Nav etc...

Smashed my elbow on the armrest... Right in the joint of the "not-so funny" 'funny bone'....

hahahaha😂 My dad was in stitches.

My first post, Did you manage to do it cookey? Would one of these fit a 3 door 2012 zetec s? Having my car this week, but I noticed it was a bit lacking, so I'm watching one on ebay taken from a 2015 Titanium. From what I've read it should fit, I'm hoping it'll fit. Anybody know for sure? Sorry to hijack your thread cookey...:-)

Hiya mate. Not today. I bought a trim removal tool from halfords today £11.99 useless. Only bought it because the tools from Amazon didn't arrive. And I only had today to do it.... So I'll do it as soon as the tools arrive.(    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B012FTA46S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00    ) As for the unit in yours. I'm not too sure. I'm sure someone will pop and tell you.

Cookey

Cheers Cookey, going to order some trim removal tools too. I shall keep my eye on this thread. Good luck.

Yes it will fit i done it on my pre facelift titanium but the colours wont match but it still looks good as for trim removal i used a srew driver and put electrical tape round it and it didnot mark nothing

Thanks mikeyd1, not sure what to do now. Wanted the colours to match also. Whatever I do I need to fill the gap in the middle a bit.

Trust me it still looks good

I sold my old car with it in and the new owner was wel pleased

Picking mine up Thursday so should either fit it next weekend or next week midweek! Mike, To get the black shiny plastic off the centre console, I twist off the gear knob and then pull out the silver trim/that the leather covering is attached to?

That way I can take away the black shiny plastic easier and access the screws for the main centre?

Yep thats the one mate

Cheers Mickeyd1, looks like getting one now. Going price seems to be around £100 second hand. Does that sound about right?

Managed to get mine for £70 from Mikey Himself ^^, Cookie paid around £80 for one (ask him for a link as it was an online breakers I believe and he said it came quickly in good condition). £100 seems a touch high but they're quite hard to come across I believe online, so it might be about right. Anything between £75-100 is reasonable

Cheers JSMarsden, When cookey is back on I shall ask him.. Got a list of a few upgrades to do. This is number 1 on my list. Then a sony DAB unit..I shall start my own thread for that instead of hijacking Cookey's again...sorry cookey...:-)

Seen my name quite abit here guys. You bi*ching about me?😉

Mark, Marsden is right. I got mine from a car breakers.

http://www.car-transplants.co.uk

find a car that is suitable for you. Same year etc... And find if the part is still available.

Mine came within 2days. £90 in total. Really good quality. If you need anything, you know where we are 😉

I don't mind you hijacking my thread mate. 😋👍🏻

Cheers mate,

Just found out my car is coming wednesday now...better get my skates on....
