This is it fitted! I was going to take pictures step by step, however I had around an hour to do it at the girlfriends house, and once I realised I was struggling I bit I had to call @mikeyd1 for help. She came to check up on my after 45minutes to see me on the phone, screws everywhere and pieces of my car left right and centre!

I will try and get a quick guide up today however I have no pictures so depends how well I can write it! Mikey was a great help and without him I wouldn't have stood a chance really as there are some fiddly bits that you wouldn't know what to do with!

Looks really nice mate

I have just spent 15 mins on a write up, and realised that it's pretty impossible without pictures, circling and good old paint.

If anybody requires a write up with pictures then please let me know (to do it, ill have to go back, take a load of pictures, whilst uninstalling my new arm rest etc). As I didn't have time to take the pictures before which I'm gutted about.

Just because it'll take a little bit of time, so I don't want to do a full write up/review/pics if it's only @Cookey09 thats interested - as I can just try to explain to him in writing!

So let me know if you want a write up!

That looks class mate!

And to be fair thats the spot i'd be in. But i've booked a day off from my girlfriend and booked a day in with my dad ;-) fit my armrest. Splitter, deflectors and dashcam. It will be a long day!

I'll try get some pictures if I remember/can be bothered (depends how well its going ;) )

I'd be interested in a write-up just to see whats what.

If you can be bothered send us one. It'd be an interesting read.

JSMarden That looks great, going to be doing it too mine. Just waiting on Car Transplants to get back to me...Thanks cookey for the link, they seem to have at least 2 in stock.

Will the wiring be there for the preface lift Fez?

Should be shouldn't it?

Car transplants mate. You are better off giving them a quick ring. I emailed them 2-3 times didn't hear anything. I paid £90inc postage. You should have to pay more than that.

Hi Cookey, Don't think it will have the wiring for rear 12v or the lights around the cup holders not sure. But I don't think it should be too hard to wire in if not.

£90 doesn't sound bad, think I'll give them a ring this week.

The wireing aint there on pre facelift but can be wiredin if u know what ur doin when i done mine i was just happy with the armrest and didnt bother wiring up but when i done on new fiesta the wire plug was there

Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard. Either split the front 12v to run to the back, or run a fresh 12v from fuse box. Just need to find out the voltage needed for the lights, probably 5v. Will have to do a little research before I order my armrest.

1) Unscrew the gear knob and remove the gear surround. Once the gear knob is loose, pull the silver trim at the base of the gear stick (the trim that has the leather stitched into it) inwards. Pick any corner/side for this - push inward toward the gearstick and pull upwards. This should undo any clips and the full gear surround should be easily removed.

It should look like this (silver trim comes lose and pulls upward)

)gear1.jpg

2) Get a tool/screwdriver and remove the "Passenger Airbag" trim (inclusive of the light). If you pop your tool in the top it should flap down and hang on two lower hinges. Pull/push this a bit to fully remove it from the centre console (Be careful as the light is attached at the back) however this will simply unplug.

airbag2.jpeg

3) Possibly the hardest part here - you will need to remove the full black lower trim (the shiny one, that surrounds the gear stick, and AC unit). This requires sore fingers, and a tough tug. - The easiest way I found was to try and remove it starting from the top (under where the passenger airbag trim was removed) and get a tool under here to prize it away.

-I then slid two other tools up each side of the AC controls (I put one in the left next to the 1-4 fan speed, and one on the right next to the (Hot/Cold) Both between the black trim, and the grey surround behind - I slid these up from the bottom as its a tight gap.

gear%201%20airbag.jpeg

-Then I got my hand underneath the black plastic at the bottom (see image below - imagine gear stick surround has been taken off by now so hand can easily get under the black trim). I put my hand and fingers under the black trim at the bottom here (near 4th gear) - and just started to pull it up. You should notice that the full black trim should start to move etc - there wasn't an easy way of doing this but please keep in mind this trim is very sturdy. I had to pull from various different angles and had sore fingers - I think this is a case of, find the easiest way possible of unclipping and pulling it off - but I found the easiest place to get my hands was at the bottom!

BE CAREFUL OF THE STOP START / THESE COME OUT AND YOU WILL NEED TO UNPLUG THE CABLE FROM THE BACK ONCE BLACK TRIM IS OFF

gear3.jpg

4) After you have felt like giving up, your dash should be a complete mess. You should find that the grey trim surrounding the gear stick (where the black trim sat ontop) will easily pull/lift off revealing a few more screws etc. Sometimes this is hard to remove from the actual black trim, and will pop off attached to the black trim. No worries - its just harder to get back on when they're together

5) Unscrew 2 screws directly underneath the Hot/Cold A/C and Fan Speed 1-4 (1 screw under each). They are 2 Black, Star shaped screws, one at each side of the unit you are removing, each of which are below the H/C and Fan Speed 1-4. These are easily accessible once '4' has been done, and you can easily see that they hold the centre piece that you are removing, to the centre console. (Your dash/centre should now similar to this

arm%202%20surround.jpeg

6) Slide both seats forwards and undo the 2 screws (The same shape screws as '5') that are currently toward the back of the centre block (each side of cup holder/there abouts). These are easy to find, no image needed!

7) Now, at the drivers seat to the left of the drivers feet there is a kick panel with a form of 'handle' on, identical to the one at the Passengers right feet. Both of these panels will pull off - you don't need to undo the plastic screw as they can stay attached. However, you need to pull these covers halfway off (screw staying in place, rest of panel left hanging). Image below shows them as standard, however you can pull/bend them back quite a bit. The red arrow shows the area of where a screw will be during the next step. (behind this panel)

kick%20pane.jpeg

This will reveal 2 more screws - located at the side of the current centre piece (underneath gear stick - 1 on the drivers side, 1 on passenger side - pretty much underneath Reverse and 2nd) - again these are the same shape/size screws as 4 & 5 and if you look closely, you can see that these screws go through the current centre unit and screw it into the metal of centre console/gear stick). Red Arrow shows around the area they will be once you have bent the panel back

8) Once all 6 screws are out, you should find that the centre piece (the one with just cup holder) should be able to slide back - if there are any difficulties get your fingers underneath the plastic at the front of the handbrake and pull up - the centre piece splits into 2 making it a bit easier to get out. BEWARE: ENSURE THAT THE USB, AUX AND 12V PLUGS ARE PULLED OUT Now - the full thing should pull backwards (towards the boot) and upwards with a bit of pulling. If the guide is correct - it should pull out

It should now look like the below, minus the gear stick and leather as this should have been removed at 1) to make life easier

all%20gone.jpeg

9) If the guide is correct you can simply install the new arm rest the same way this came out, ensuring that you plug in the little grey plug into the new centre rest. This Grey plug is located near the gearstick on the passenger side. - This is just clipped in, lift it out and plug it straight into your centre arm rest.

Double post since I am unable to use a forum sufficiently and rather than editing the post above, I simply quoted myself, edited the quote and re-posted and now I have a post that I cannot delete, but instead thought I would waste your time making you read it. Important stuff is above ^^ :hang:

It makes total sense to us..... however it'll be a bit harder for a first timer without the piccies haha

Fitted today! @JSMarsden quality guide mate, pointed me in the right direction! As you say it will be easier for us to understand, but for people who haven't bought the armrest and are looking to buying one. Don't let how messy the unit looks in the pictures put you off!

Its a simple swap out!

Im sure @mikeyd1 would have told me what I needed to do if Marsden hadn't done the step-by-step!

But thanks to both of you guys for what you've done, advice etc...

a few pictures that I've taken today, Marsden I believe is going to add them to his guide?

Was it worth it in the end cookey are u enjoying it. The fiesta should of come standard with these

I love it mate! Honestly, it's brilliant, people who buy Fiesta's and have these in as standard won't appreciate them as much as us who by them to retro-fit!

Fits perfect. Sits well. Spot on for my seating position! Just adds a touch of class! Your right mate! They all should!  Except the base model?;)

I'm grateful the plug was sitting there to be wired up. But it shows, that people pay just for something to be plugged in, if you get me?

Cheers buddy!

You do realise the gear knob twists off, may have made it a touch easier for you - I forgot to mention that in my tutorial though! Silly me! :bangin:

Will see if I can find a spare 5/10 mins at work to circle them in paint and make it a guide ^^
