Sorry you disapprove. If someone thinks it's alright to cause cosmetic damage to my car for a parking space, I'll do likewise. I'll admit it was out of impulse though.

<sigh>

Oh yes, excellent response there. Of course it's frowned upon - it's a completely over the top ludicrous response.

does a slight scratch or dent to your car really justify such excessive damage. a couple of people have nudged my car parking, hell one hit it quite quick, but theres no damage so i can't see how the bmw nudging your car caused enough damage to warrent such a response.

By you own admission his number plate was

in-contact

with yours, no damage mentioned there...

What you did on the otherhand was criminal damage and would cost hundreds to put right unlike your numberplate which was obviously fine

Why is a tw@tbag like you on an owners club forum anyway?

That's absolutely hilarious!! Would have been funny to watch! Don't agree with parking in parent and child or disabled spaces when I clearly don't need to, but can understand why people on here seem to as there is a lower risk to the car with the extra space!
Can I just add, I park in disabled bays legally.
i had my son with me

Sorry if I may have appeared to be jumping to conclusions/making assumptions in my previous post but I had got the feeling from a couple of other posts elsewhere that this may have been the case to avoid damage to cars. It is good to hear that you two genuinely needed the spaces - I have had plenty of customers coming into the supermarket where I work complaining about people who inappropriately use car parking spaces and have often seen people parking in parent and child spaces when they do not need to just because they are too lazy to park elsewhere or to avoid people hitting their nice new cars. I've also seen cars abandoned across two parking spaces (over the line) which is frustrating when there is just not enough room to park my car when there are no other spaces (this was the case on Saturday, but later found another space elsewhere). At the same time, I would be rather annoyed to return to my car to find damage to it by inconsiderate drivers bashing their doors and trolleys about!

Let's keep it reasonably civil please.

Haha. I don't care if it was "criminal damage". Since you're so grand at quoting my post, perhaps quote the part where I said that he'd clearly hit my car to gain a parking spot. If you use commonsense, you'd figure out that there's no way of proving who hit who in that situation - he could claim that I'd hit him, there's no way of telling. Especially with no CCTV.

So let's recap. He hits my car, with some slight cosmetic damage actually I failed to mention before hand (some bodywork on the front left bumper scraped off since his BMW was "rectangular" shaped, thus sharply edged on the front), and I should just drive on and ignore it, because he's a c*ck with no consideration. So the least I believe I could have done was gotten some own back. The most dangerous aspect of the roads are other drivers, and that doesn't end when your car isn't moving at all.

No - if you're that concerned about damage, you should have waited until the driver returned and then asked for his insurance details or what he planned to do about it...

Your way, you both have damaged cars. The sensible way - you have his good will, quite possibly an apology because it may well have been accidental, and hopefully a repaired car not at your own expense.

Yes because that would have ended well. I'm sure he would have been an absolutely charming person who would be glad to admit to something that cannot be proven, and something that he knows he's done. Please be real, we live amongst people who take without giving, looking for a win and, most of all, looking to protect themselves. Besides, I wasn't bugged too badly about the damage, it was more a case of "you get what's coming to you". Again, I don't care if my action is disapproved, in such a situation where the other driver is clearly an inconsiderate bugger and nothing can be proved. It was right by me.

Oh, "accidental"? Please refer back to my prior messages about contact, and the fact that he must have known he'd done it given how deep it was.

Ok ok, we have established that its not the "done" thing to retaliate in that way. Although i understand we all do stupid things out of anger an passion.

BUT, we dont want to turn this thread into a full scale slander match so, if we could continue the conversation on the parking issue and leave the above personal remarks out now.

i'm immune to all punishment on behalf of FOC because i'm special!

lol.. some of these posts are funny..

If someone puts a bad dent in your car door, why not just slam your door into theres? Clearly you're gonna have to get it repaired anyway, so cause them some damage too, they might get the point.

My MK3 was covered in dents, gave it character :)

But the topic anyway.. when i park in a car park i look for spaces next to new cars, because they probably have the same respect for your new car as theres, dont have any marks on my car yet - well only a few on the roof :(

not sure i agree on this as theres no way of telling if it was accidental. just hang around a bit and see if you can grab a word with em.

do agree with you on the funniness of this thread though kept me distracted from my uni essay, along with facebook etc. in general the internet is just too distracting.

Yeah you're probably right - in my MK7 id hang around and ask them if it was an accident, but if i was in a MK4 id probably just drive off and not really care.

And you're right the internet is FAR to distracting, its great though isn't it.

Whoops, i mean MK3 Not MK4 :P

nah man, i love my mk4, its all nice and clean(ish) with no dents or whatnot. if i catch anyone keying/bashing/kicking it they'll be introduced to my fists.

but yea it is great, you checked out www.fmylife.com? you can lose yourself in the epicness of that site for hours.

my MK4 has one dent left by the previous owner which will one day be bashed out, not a priority at the mo though!

the private plate makes it shiiiiiiiiiiiiine...damn i'm way too obsessed with !Removed! number plates

haha i like my reg plate, ubz ****, its not private but it hides the cars age. oh and if you say ubz it sounds kinda cool (or is that just me?)

pmsl! Just checked that link, it's brilliant!!!

Today, I received my passport in the mail. They got my birthdate wrong. Then I picked up my birth certificate that I had sent in with the application. Turns out my parents have been celebrating my birthday on the wrong day for 16 years. FML
