Aaron_Skilton
Hi guys. Juts had the focus serviced, told them the GPS has stopped working and they've told me it needs a new gps base? Any idea where this is? Is it just a new aerial? Thanks Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
TangoDaz
I think it is at the base of the aerial it's a bit thicker than standard ones. From a earlier post about changing the aerial for a stubby one they had a bit of trouble getting the old one out if you want to read the post it's the one about my mk2.5 titanium I think
Aaron_Skilton
I thought thats what it was. They want 198 to change it!!! Looked quickly online found a base for 50. Got to check its right. Not very impressed they didnt even clean it. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
TangoDaz
From what I can remember you get to the base of the aerial by removing the interior light assembly it was the rubber seal that caused the trouble £198 sounds very steep you could try removing the sat nav and having a look at the back of the unit where the antenna plugs into it you may be able to use a antenna from a aftermarket sat nav it screws in to the back of the unit and sticks to the a post behind the trim as its magnetic

TangoDaz
Or it could be this one you need to look at the back of the unit to determine what type of antenna you need
Aaron_Skilton
Very steep. Only 3 and a half years old. FM and DAB work fine. Its just the GPS. Sounds like a lot of people are having the same problem. Ford arent going to be shelling out for it are they. *****. TangoDaz
If the blue plug on the base plugs into the sat nav unit then the second antenna may fit your unit

TangoDaz
I stuck my sat nav antenna as I said I the A post behind the trim panel and it picks up the gps with no bother at all
