Squeak noise & rattle. Where to start?

I seem to have a noise coming from the back of my exhuast or under the middle back area of the car. It has not got any worse but has been like it for a few weeks.

Its more of a rattle and squeaking sound when I go over speed bumps.. and even can here it when I slam the door shut or go over a small bump. I can also here it when i push the side of the car back and fourth.

Once I get it on the jack whats the first thing I should be looking for? (obviously I know the exhuast) but how is it attached is it metal clips. Would the sound even be the exhuast? It defianlty looks like there is some play/movement towards the back.

My model is a 3dr 1.4 style plus 59 plate.

Any help on what to look at first would help

Thanks in advance

Look for rust. I have had it where heat shields have rusted around the bolt holes and therefore come off and rattled. The exhaust is just hooked on rubber holes, make sure none have come off or rusted away. After reading the post again, my first guess is on the rubber being perished and metal is rubbing on metal

Could be the exhaust heat shield corroded (as Luke says) it's thin aluminium sitting on steel pins so corrodes away. It can be fixed by either cutting a large washer from a Coke can and buying the fixings from Ford (or eBay) or you can even 'stitch' the shields together using copper wire to hold them together.
