Firstly, thanks to benholden2008. Have been following the step by step guide which was cracking, so thanks.

In addition to it though. I want to fit after market LED DRLs to my new model Fiesta Zetec S 59 plate. I've been reading up about it, and according to UK law on fitting DRLs, they must light automatically on ignition but turn off once sidelights are applied. This would therefore go against attaching the lights via cable lock connectors to the sidelights. Firstly, does anyone know whether this is definitely the case? That being so, how could you wire the lights so they do meet UK Law standards on DRLs?

Any help would be really appreciated as I'm stumped about this one...

their are pre wired looms available on ebay for fitting DRL's that depending on how you hook them up, you would have an option to either have the drls switch off when you turn on your lights or dim by 50% when you switch on your lights

Cheers for that Lenny, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for! I don't suppose you'd know how to wire it to get the 50% dimming function would you? That's what I'd prefer tbh...

ill try find you one that dims mate,

some of them have both options available the only difference is.

if you want them to go off when you switch your lights on, splice the white wire to the parking light positive,

or

if you want them to dim to 50% splice the blue wire instead of the white.

but the kit i linked you to just dims them by 50% so you would run the red positive to an ignition feed, run the black to a bolt and splice the blue to your parking feed,

i also see them refer to being can-bus error free,

but if your fitting after market drl's they dont need to be canbus because your wiring them in yourself and not puting them through the cars ecu system, so you wouldnt need to worry about canbus mate,

i didnt need to use one because mine came as a specific kit for the focus and had the auto dim feature in the kit. but if it didnt come with it, i would have bought the blue one above.

i have mine set to Dim when i turn on my side lights etc.

so they are DRL's during the day and when i switch on my lights they dim to give out the same light as parking/side lights at night.

so they are 100% compliant. you may also get a drop in your insurance costs after fitting.

Just class them as sidelights.

You might as well just have sidelights on and leave it at that... Besides, strictly speaking, you'd still need a relay to drop the power of the DRLs whilst the dipped/sidelights are on. Thought I'd ask...

ive also bought one for my st pod gauges, because i had them linked to the interior lights, but i dont tun my lights on now during the day because ive fitted the drl's. so at the momment the gauges are very dull.

but by fitting one of the blue lads, i will have full illumination of the gauges during the day, and then at night when i switch my lights on the gauges backlight will dim too.

Hi Guys , sorry to be a snob , but i think mine look the best lol , i fitted a relay so they dim by 50% when any lights are turned on , however it is a bigger job to fit them etc. These are really bright in the daylight too as they should be. Look at my posts and you will see them as i uploaded pictures before.
