hi all, new to the group

im not sure if this has been discussed before on here as i cant find anything up to date. on Facebook earlier and seen a pinned post that UK ford owners can download official updates instead of gone into the garage, so i tried this myself

put my vin into ford sync update and downloaded the files + instructions onto a USB stick and went to my car to update sync, no files found on the USB and make sure the files are on the root of the device (which they were)

some people have done this successfully and others having problems, does anyone have any idea why its not working ?

fiesta ST-3, 14 plate

thanks

It depends on which SYNC module you have. Sync 1.1 means you can update it to 5.9 (maybe higher now). Sync 1.0 means you can't update it yourself and is stuck on like 3.00.9.

2014 was the changeover year in April (that doesn't mean a 14 plate will have 1.1 as it may have been built before march for example). To check go into your SYNC settings and look for either AM5T or D1BT (or very similar codes). AM5T means you have 1.0 and can't update.

Having said all of that I've just noticed you've used your VIN on the official Ford website, so I assume you have Sync 1.1. Ford have only just gave UK owners the capability to update sync themselves (and was only active for a few days like 3 months ago).

Anyway make sure the USB is formatted in FAT32.
