transit 2.4 wont start

hi guys ,as a favor to my pal i said i would fit a crank pulley on his van as the original was hanging off ,after fitting van fired up straight away and sounded perfect so turned it off and carried on with job ie fan cowling etc,job all done tried to start it and nothing just turns over and wont fire at all so checked fuel filter and it was empty so thought must have ran out of diesel,got some in a jerry can filled filter to brim slither of grease around seal and refitted ,rest diesel in tank ,i have tried everything i know and this van will not start/fire at all ,a mate said tow it for at least a mile to drag fuel through,it didnt even try once ,so i gave it a sniff it fired and nearly ran but cut out,i have also tried cracking injectors off ,it just wont start,the immobiliser is stopping flashing when ignition on,any help would be great ,thanks for listening ,Gaz
