  2. Done some digging there is 2 rubber stops which the bonnet rests on when closed and these can be turned down the gap gets smaller, Ford nearly set them to a standard height during manufacture, so I'll adjust them tomorrow, previous owner either didn't know or from the dealer never questioned it

  3. Today's the day my faithful friend is going to the big scrap pile in the sky. After 220,000, the day has come. After another power steering leak amongst some other issues it had to end. Never left me stranded! Now driving a '14 Skoda Yeti 2.0 tdi 170. Quicker than the old girl by nature and handles well enough but just not the same. Just want to say thank you for everyone's help on this forum. Great resource and kept me on the road on a limited budget and improved my knowledge no end. I'll be back!

  4. I used a cheap stick-on LED strip from eBay and positioned it under the hatch lock facing into the boot and wired into the exisiting light (which I also replaced with a LED globe). Works a treat with all the wires easily hidden under the plastic trim.

  7. Hate them mate, I don't even like them on Lamborghini's, Porsche, Aston Martin etc, I think they spoil the look of the car, if they have a bit of silver in them then I don't mind them, but all black and black tyres don't do it for me.

  11. I would agree with you on bodykits, I think when The fast and furious franchise first took off in about 2002 there was a massive following and you would see MK4 and MK5 Escorts, Corsa's and Saxo's with Japane style bodykits and Lexus rear lights, I was a young lad back then and that craze really annoyed me even then. That aside, I dont see anything wrong with people fitting oem bodykits to lesser models, Or a nice set of tasteful wheels etc and even an exhaust and air filter etc, Especially for younger people who cant afford a performance car. I know where you are coming from with a ridiculous drain pipe exhaust that sets car alarms off on a 1.0 litre saxo though, I not into that either.

  14. Took our car in to be serviced & Ford noticed that the front discs & pads was near to the minimum depth and gave me a quote of £235 to fit a new set, told them I reckon my Son will be able to do that job [I can't no more as I've a bad back] Son got me Ferodo discs-pads-bolts-anti rattle springs for just £60 & he changed the lot, he also removed & thoroughly cleaned the whole callipers, removing all rust and repainted them in Humbrol bright silver Enamel with a clear gloss coat, he also cleaned and removed all the rust from the hub and then repainted everything is satin black. The discs have an silver anti-rust coating which is put on by Ferodo, to stop rust so I'm told, So hopefully I'll not be seeing rusty disc's for some time Reckon my Son has done a proper job in bringing the brakes back to life and should be good for a few years now and of course saved us a fair few quid in the process.

  16. Thank you all for your answers, I now have two files on my pendrive 1) SyncMyRide 2) autoinstall.lst I will go ahead and install the updates tomorrow. Many Thanks

  17. These wheels do indeed look awesom on the Focus MK3. The only disadvantage is the (lack of) rim flange protection. The Dunlop Sport Max RT2 tyres do have a relative small rim flange protection. Combined with the relative large rim flange design of the wheels there is only a minor rim flange protection. After the break in 2 weeks ago I decided to install the original alarm system for some extra protection. After I got my car back from the bodyshop last week I checked the wiring of the car. My car turned out to have most of the wiring in place. Only the single wire from the BCM to the bonnet lock is missing. I already ordered all parts that are needed to retrofit the original alarm system.

  18. give your lad a pat on the back from us...... :-) then put him the train to blackpool to do my rear brakes ;-D black and silver always look best for painting braking components , only porche & ferrari can pull off gawdy bright colours without looking naff - wise decision ;-)

  19. sync will not recognize them if they are in folder. in general SyncMyRide folder and autoinstall.lst must be in USB's root.

  22. You've probably got the "do not index" file missing, it will still work fine. The important bits are autoinstall.lst and a syncmyride folder.

  26. totally agree that modding is each to their own like me im 19 (20 next month) so cant afford to drive a higher performance car say and ST/RS iv got a little 1.0 eco 125bhp and have just fitted a ST180 exhaust it doesnt wake the neighbors and cant hear it on motorway cruising it is a decent note on acceleration and if i decide to drive in 3rd it gives of a nice grumble down the road. i can only really afford mods which dont add anything on the insurance and i was very surprised to see i could add a high performance exhaust (not saying ST180 exhaust is high performance) and cosmetic exhaust for nothing but adding wind deflectors was a big no no and they didn't want to know.

  30. Both of mine are running bluefins. One is 100 and the other is a 125. The 125 made more torque but comes in later, the 100 feels better at low revs. Both ran same power (149 vs 152bhp)

  36. Hi Peter. I have the 4 speed auto, no issues other than the dash display sometimes sticking on a flashing 'P' symbol instead of 'D', 'R' or 'N' or whichever gear has been manually selected. I've had the car nearly a year and the display issue doesn't seem to impact on the function of the gearbox in any way at all. Mine's a mk2.5 with the red LED dash. Otherwise, it does what it should without drama. I've read here on the forum that technically this box is 3 speed + overdrive but hey, it works! It's apparently a fairly old design which has been upgraded, strengthened and improved over the years, much like the 1.6 petrol engine in my car. Gear changes are reasonably smooth and happen more-or-less when I expect them to. Like any box, auto or otherwise, changes are smoother after it's warmed up. Kick-down isn't very responsive, don't rely on it for a chancy overtake, give it 5 seconds notice. But auto Focus drivers don't even contemplate 'chancy' overtakes, eh..? I love it, and much prefer automatics over manuals any day. All that unnecessary flapping about of arms and legs! I've got a theory that the engines in automatics are less likely to have been thrashed. a) auto drivers are less inclined to thrash it in the first place and b) auto boxes have various fail-safes designed in to stop the engine over-revving/labouring, even when manual change has been selected. Just a theory... Go for it, you won't regret it

  37. when i used to have my 2008 focus i put a single din jvc radio/cd in had bluetooth aux etc . easy to fit just get the autoleads connection kit around £25, and a patch lead for the make of the unit you put in, so you don`t loose the steering controls £5 for the patch lead. if you put a double din unit in you won`t need to buy the extra plastic trim for it to fit.

  39. I would personally stick with what you have and just remap it. With so much traffic and speed restrictions I would choose the economy option. Maybe wait a couple of years and then you will have sync 3 inside the ST which is supposed to be much better than sync 2 which was Microsoft based.

  41. For pressure washers you can't go wrong with Nilfisk. Available in Argos and Screwfix in various variations. Karcher are the easiest to get accessories for though. Detailing products wise it depends very much on what you are looking for, how much you are willing to spend, and how much ongoing maintenance you intend to do. Its probably worth having a look around the detailingworld forum if you haven't already. Im a big fan of Powermaxed products at the moment. Their range is effective and not too pricey (and some are available in 5l concentrate form). Also available from Euro Car Parts (and discounted in their many sales). IN terms of LSP (wax/sealant), I'm using Sonax Extreme Protect and Shine Hybrid on the bodywork. Its a spray you simply wipe on and wipe off (including on black trim if you want) - a bit pricey but job done for at least 3 months and no elbow grease required at all! No matter what products you use the key is in the preparation though.

  42. Alloy. Specifically its the 5 x 2 design. That wont really make a difference though for the spare - a wheel is a wheel and all that matters really is the size is within the specification for the car.

  47. it can be grease from the hand or hand cream or make up. To clean it try eyes or face wet make up removal tissues. Do a little bit of a time but they should not be very harsh on that plastic. You can try some APC diluted at first 15:1 and after increase the dosage if it doesn't go away 10:1, 5:1, 1:1. The last resort will be changing the plastics.

  49. Thats a lot of miles for a year old car, which is why you bought it cheap. But not to worry. Iv'e had worse. If it runs and drives ok, thats fine, won't need a MoT for 2 years. As to the ripped seat, as mentioned, breakers yard or ebay, Go to the top of the Fiesta home page and click "SUB FORUMS. Ford Fiesta parts and it will bring up categories of parts . find interior, seats and it will bring up ads from ebay, Simple. Youv'e got till August., so take your time and seek advice. Good luck.
