  24. I was going suggest the Vax too. Cost wise I bought a Henry hoover just for the car. Its not cordless but comes with a great set of tools that can reach every corner and crevice of my car. Powerful suction and filtration. At £87.00 delived free from AO.com its a great bargain compared to cordless gear

  25. You can do it without a dowel but it's quite perilous... Trying to refit the belt with one hand while trying not to let the spanner slip off and smash your hand on something isn't easy.

  30. Little to report over the last few months. Eve is now 10 years old and flew through her MOT at the end of September. Unfortunately now that Eve is officially Mrs P's car she's not been getting the regular cleaning she deserves and after a spell under a very nasty tree she ended up looking pretty awful... So I finally took matters into my own hands and spent the whole afternoon yesterday getting Eve looking fabulous again.

  31. Ha ha, poor fella, it reads comically though. I bet you never let him near you with any power tools after all of that! Apparently the pic is actually a chinese ladies hands and the accident was in a paper mill in China. Thats all it says about it. I just googled 'Fingers chopped off' and looked in Images.

  34. I do like receiving my new pairs of glasses from Glasses Direct exactly 7 days from placing the order online! They say delivery is generally within 10-14, but can be up to 28 days, so I expected to wait a couple of weeks, but as before they have exceeded my expectations.

  35. I do like that the spring like warmth has returned again, it was rather too cold (2 fleeces and hat) on Brandy's walk last night, it was back to just a shirt this morning Upon returning, I noted it's 14°C on the garage wall thermometer, the frosty December mornings of my youth, and of even 20 years ago, seem to have vanished. Economies of scale probably. 100's of 1000's of litres from the Canadian distillery compared to 1000's from the Scottish craft distilleries. The dog car and to a certain degree the pink one (cat?) reminded me of a Mini Cooper that used to appear in a neighbours drive every couple of months, completely covered in artificial grass. My neighbour had the franchise for Dorset, for an artificial lawn company. Each franchisee had the use of of the Mini three times a year. Which was was used to both advertise the product and demonstrate anything could covered in their fake lawn fabric.

  36. Henry is still the best value for money tbh. But it's heavy and corded so no ideal for you lol. My Nan has an Air Ram as she can no longer lift the Henry and would probably trip on the lead anyway, well she has 2 now as the old one broke so she ordered a new one, but I managed to fix the old one with a new drive gear lol. But she still keeps the Henry for other people to use in nooks & crannys and around ceilings etc. I haven't used a handheld since a 'Dustbuster' back in the 90s! Hopefully technology has improved since then as it was rubbish.

  37. I bought a Vax 6131T to do my car with - awesome bit of kit! It's not cordless though... EDIT: - it is a Wash&Vax and comes with full set of tools, liquids and a long length hose - £99 from Amazon.

  39. I don't want to meddle with the cars wiring ... I may go for hid kit for dipped and led for the main / drl . There are H15 leds apparently but would be worth more investigation. So if I have halogen DRL do I need H7 for dipped beam and H15 for the DRL/ Main beam ??

  41. aux belt is easy to do on a 1.6tdci. there is a special tool to turn tensioner, but an open ended spanner , think 14mm or15mm, and a 5mm dowel is required. turn tensioner with spanner and insert dowl to keep it locked in place . but as stef says, just get the garage to do it for you if your getting timing belt done.

  43. To anyone with a Hotpoint appliance (except a fridge freezer and an Aqualtis washer) GET RID as they are krap. I worked for Hotpoint for 18 years 10 of which was home delivery and for as many deliveries I made I made a collection too. Anyone remember the Ariston add the go on and on? Well I'll tell you in one year alone I picked up over 1000 of them and they were only 2 and 3 years old. It was the Merloni family in Italy that owned ariston then Hotpoint etc. I still keep in touch with my old workmates and they tell me nowt changed except they've dropped the Aqualtis model (the original one and by far the best washer made by anyone anywhere) Just my advise from knowledge and experience.
