Going to Cyprus today for a well earned rest. Not much sun but away from everything for a week. [emoji41] Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)3 points

As far as I understand, It's just one year at a time, it renews when/if you have a main dealer service completed. This is causing problems for people on longlife, 2 year servicing.2 points

I don't have a problem with dash cams on while I work on someone's car. I got nothing to hide. Think the problem is the audio, you may or may not be offended by the banter in the workshop therefore to avoid any possibility of that occuring they could be unplugged. What doesn't offend one person, may do another. No expert but you could be listening to confidential information about another customer( names, addresses, etc. ) Doesn't have to be the tech in the workshop,managers,receptionists.2 points

Thanks, I forgot that. Also need a set of fake number plates, a false moustache and a pair of sunglasses!😉2 points

@Turvey you tag someone by putting the @ in then it'll generate names as you type in 👍. That pressure wash made a difference on the walkway and driveway. It's surprising how dirty the floor gets. Might pressure wash my drive when I clean the car 🤣2 points

Well on the way to work yesterday the EML came on (no limp mode) so i called into the local NOTrust dealer to ask if they could scan the fault later in the day. They told me i'd have to book it in which they could sort for next Thursday (over a week away). I said i want to make sure it's safe to drive and numpty said i'd still have to wait over a week and if it was a safety issue they wouldn't release the car back until it was sorted? I asked why it was ok to drive for over a week with the problem (which could be a safety issue?) and he stuck with the week+ booking option I called the breakdown guy out (turns out it's the AA) and less than 5 mins later fault showed up as 02 sensor - now booked in with another dealer for tommorow Why if a car has what could be a serious problem can't a dealer at least plug in their machine to check if it's safe to drive until 1st available booking - takes minutes to do and could save a bigger warranty claim or bill if warranty is refused due to continuing to drive?1 point

I seem to remember that to some extent you get a better package with a Ford Direct vehicle than a new one. I think FD cars come with 2 years breakdown cover from purchase.1 point

Crazy difference in price mate, I used to smoke 20 per day and 40 per weekend day, I'm off them 14 years now and sometimes miss the sensation, somewhat a better life when I had the spare money to spend on them and it was somthing I did other than just working lol1 point

Yes, we're going to Paphos as well, mate has an apartment so we're getting mate's rates 😎 Taking our 15 year old twins with us so no loud clubs.........booze? I'll be popping my KEO virginity out there 🍻1 point

Only things keeping me going on long shifts are copious caffeine and tabs. Uk price per carton is £100+, Cyprus price about €35. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)1 point

My dad cured me of any desire to smoke by making me try a cigarette when I was 11 or so. It was absolutely disgusting - I only found out years later it was a wartime Gauloise he'd brought back as a souvenir and would have been about 20 years old then, so no wonder! Anyway it did the trick, never touched one since!😀1 point

They would be aware of the camera as it's stuck to the windscreen not hidden It's not to record them working it's facing the road not inside the car or under the bonnet *which would be open whilst being worked on so blocking the view anyway)1 point

1. Almost certainly 21mm on a facelift with a large engine. But always best to check. There is a coloured band on the BJ which I think you can see without dismantling the whole lot. 2. The genuine Ford ones are probably best but very expensive. I fitted some mid-range Delphi branded arms to mine (£130 the pair) and still thought the handling wasn't as tight as when I first bought the car - although obviously better than with the slack bushes I was replacing. Mister-Auto are often cheapest for this sort of thing.1 point

@zain611 I actually like it! Not saying I'd drive it, but if I saw it at a show would want a closer look... The birthday cake looked nice also. Yianni's programmes had been on Dave on Sundays recently, not sure if it was repeats or not...but I ended up having a nightmare about it, dreampt I'd had my car wrapped there as a gift for my 27th and was trying not to show how much I hated it. If I lived 2 miles from there I'd walk past now and then to see if theres anything interesting in the carpark.1 point

HP and weird just like MACS, the batteries aren't given an time it will take for them to degrade. They are given cycle counts roughly around 300. anywhere between 3-5 years depending on usage. Like i said earlier its personal preference, buying the £10 wont cause any harm, but i wouldn't expect it to last the same amount of time as a genuine HP one. Also these batteries are Li-Ion i wouldn't suggest to fully discharge them if possible, can cause damage to the batteries1 point

With the recent GDPR implementation I wonder if a company could be held liable when they were technically being recorded covertly. I also wonder if the liability could fall on the customer.1 point

You can add me on PS4. Same username as my username here 👍. Haven't been or will be on it for a while now as I'm getting serious into my uni work. Do say who you are though as I get so much random requests. I used to be rank 1 in driver San Francisco for 2 game modes. Years later someone messaged me saying how did you get a 17/1 win to lose ratio 😂. I've been playing black ops 4 zombies really.1 point

Well that was quick LOL Have now bought your suggestion and what a great price, others selling the same item for more than 3 times the price! Just hope they send it to me now and it isn't a listing error 🙂1 point

Funny thing is most of the time the bonnet is open so you get an hour's viewing of that. Lol. We chat alot at work and some things I don't think you would want to listen too. And worst of all is radio 2 being listened to in the workshop by us rough techs . The stuff Jeremy vine discusses is enough to switch dash cams off!!1 point

"CoolGo" wont be the battery brand, If you look up the part number 593553-001 on Ebay you will find multiple sellers with the same picture selling the same battery.. Normally there will be no brand on them as they are made in bulk in China. Personally i wouldn't buy Chinese batteries but others will have different option. I've found a genuine on eBay £32.50 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Genuine-HP-593553-001-6-cell-4200mAh-laptop-battery-MU06-CQ42-UK-STOCK/254134753811?epid=1475439293&hash=item3b2b9c9a13:g:~g4AAOSwEARbC8fW:rk:1:pf:01 point

I would unplug a dashcam or not want to be filmed while I was working. It is like your employer filming you at work without you knowing in a way. I don't think it is right to covertly spy on people, watch the playback and scrutinise exactly what is going on. Just my opinion.1 point

I found Audi service pretty eye-watering, when I got a SEAT they were almost as bad - must be a VW Group thing. Back with Ford myself, and moved the Mrs's little SEAT to the local garage as soon as the warranty was up. My usual Ford dealer has always been pretty good on price and service so we take our Fords there whether in warranty of not.1 point

I'd go with that, usually the parts are relatively cheap or at least competitively priced but the hourly rates can really boost the price high. That's part of the reason why on my previous car despite being a 53 plate, I was taking it to the dealer as the price difference was marginal but the parts and general level of service was better and therefore worth the tiny bit extra. Haha, yeah heard the german premium brands like to charge extortionate amounts even on models that aren't much more complex that whatever else is out there but £330 for a 1st service is madness, it's not an A8 where you'd expect high prices which would be higher than £330 anyway.1 point

I think it’s a fair opinion to have but at the same time, you’re not expecting them to fix it there and then - just something to tell you what is up with the car and of course if it involves 30 minutes of looking at the car then fair enough, you need it booked in but if all it takes to tell you a fault code is two minutes, I think it would be reasonable to think somebody would be able to nip out and have a look for 5 mins. No issue with them getting on with things in a controlled way but I can’t image an each individual mechanic being so tied up they are working to the minute. About the doctor appointment on the day you’re ill, I have managed to do that quite often at my surgery, just got to nip in for when they open and get a time from the appointment pool for the day 😛1 point

Maybe you could let people in the forum know what wire colours were changed over for the later model plugs? Could be a nice little tutorial which might benefit others who maybe want to swap fittings.1 point
