  3. Few pictures from this morning if anyone's interested! Not much there but it was quality over quantity tbf. The actual MK4 ST launch was very odd though...a LHD car, with a dent in the wheel arch that hadn't been valletted properly...oh and it was roped off so you couldn't even see inside.

  4. This is not a question. But I am putting this here in case it helps anyone else. So you have a car (2008 Focus in my brother's case) and only have one key. obviously never good to have one key in case you lose it. So you want to have a new spare key, but you can't (easily) program the immobiliser chip in a new key unless you already have two working keys. So most people get an auto-electrician/locksmith or someone like Timpsons to make a new key. But we are talking about prices like a hundred quid. This is how I did it: OBD code reader from here: https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/ I got the USB modified version (I actually bought it a couple of years ago - not just for doing this key- everyone should have one). This seller has been recommended many times on this forum which I why I bought from them. A windows laptop which i have owned for years. Instal free software on it called Forscan. (there are also versions of Forscan for phones/tablets but only the windows version can do the key programming I believe). You also need to apply for the extended licence, which is also free, to do the key programming. Then I bought from ebay a key blade which they cut from a photo of the one key I have. Then I bought from ebay the electronics part of the key. The part with the buttons on and the circuit board inside and immobiliser chip. BEWARE - a lot of the key parts on ebay are just the plastic shells with nothing inside for people to reshell their keys. Make sure you get one with the gubbins in. BEWARE - there are different types of immobiser chip - you need the right one for your model/year. eg. 4d60, 4d63 and the bit number. eg 4d63 80bit. Unfortunately I can't give you link to the sellers I used as I bought the bits a few months ago and they have dropped off my ebay history. The cost of the two ebay purchases was about £20 in total. And then yesterday I got round to programming the key. Check the immobiliser chip is correct type. before programming try starting car with new key. From forscan webiste it says if you get fault code B1601 you have the right sort of chip in the key. If you get fault code B1600 it is wrong. I got fault code B1601 so looking good. So using 'Ignition Key programming' within the PATS part of Service Procedures in Forscan I succesfully programmed the immmobiliser chip in the key. DO NOT accidentally use Ignition Key erase. I then programmed the buttons on the key which does not need anything like forscan as per: https://remotekey.co.uk/ford/programming-ford-remotes/ So I hope this gives someone else the confidence to do it . Obviously not so economic if you don't have the OBD code reader or the windows laptop already. I am not sure exactly what models this works for. I am pretty sure I read on this forum that you can't do it for Mk3 Focus onwards.

  5. It's always been the same as far as I can remember, some kids have rich parents, some have had an inheritance payment, some earn a good wage despite their young age. But the majority don't...most of the youngsters I see on the road are driving 10+ year old cars or cheap superminis. The insurance is ridiculous nowadays though, I don't blame them for not declaring mods in all honesty! Lol, I don't think there's anything you can buy in the UK with an NA diesel engine these days...ever decreasing emissions limits aren't all bad!! I agree that's too late, but I do like a nice exhaust myself...

  9. To be fair, since there was a clamp down they still go there but there seem to be less tyre marks on the road. I'd always advocate keeping that sort of thing for a track day or airfield day, but at the same time I'm all for encouraging an interest in cars, even if it is just hanging around kicking tyres. It beats the local youth hanging around outside Tesco. I just hope for their sake they're declaring all their mods so they don't have a problem if they have an accident. 10. It's funny. Cheddar Gorge is quite a magnet for that sort of thing in the evenings. If I drive home late across the Mendips the wide boys think I'm one of them in the ST. If I'm on my way back from a track day in the Lotus they just stare as I go past Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  11. Before you completely judge my motives........there was some greek dancing in the song At the risk of sounding like a Eurovision geek, there have been some very under rated songs. Could never understand why Kati Wolf's "What about my dreams" didn't win in 2011 or Azerbaijan "Always on my mind" in 2009 although there is a common theme with some of these songs 😄 . I stopped watching in 2012.......i think.....

  16. Just find yourself a scrap car that has the correct caliper brackets. The 300 front disc brakes are used on the 1.8 TDCI and 2.0 TDCI diesel engines and 2.0 Duratec HE petrol engine. There are plenty of these vehicles scrapped these days. New caliper brackets are only available from Ford and cost a small fortune (over €200,- a piece). There are cheap (Chinese) aftermarket replacements but I would not recommend to use these because of the (very) poor quality. Also be aware that the 300 mm front disc brakes always must be combined with 280 mm rear disc brakes. Combining the 300 mm front disc brakes with 265 mm rear disc brakes or even drum brakes will result in a disturbed front/rear brake balance and make the car unstable during hard braking. Definetely not what you want in a critical situation. The Focus MK2/MK2.5 Brake Control Module does not have any configurable brake size settings. The front/rear brake balance is preconfigured in the Brake Control module software and can not be changed. You can install bigger front brakes without any problem as long as they are combined with the corresponding rear brakes.

  18. Hi Guys!! Don't think I've posted in here since 2015!! This is my little Ka, Recently just put coils on, waiting for them to settle before winding them down lower. She's got an Abarth exhaust which actually pops surprisingly, full leather interior, a custom grill and so much more...

  19. Well I’m back again 😂🤣 so what’s happened after selling the RS in early Feb I bought a golf gtd had that for 6 weeks bought a house (finally) and then got really bored diesel power quickly, sold the golf and just used my family van for a few months and yesterday I bagged myself this little fiesta ST180 a few mods have already been done (saves me time and money) ITG induction kit, R sport crossover, larger inlet elbow on turbo, GFB recirc (to be changed for a forge unit), pro alloy big mount intercooler (again to be changed for a an airtec stage 3 unit), some nice gram lite alloys, Mountune lower springs, power-flex rear spring cups, cobra exhaust with decat, Mountune mud flaps, Mountune front splitter, and the most important one Maxd stage 2R remap with crackle over run making 245bhp and 400nm - quick car to say the least! Toke me by surprise so here’s some photos I’ll get more when I can and when I clean it (of course) and if you’ve followed my previous modified car threads/projects you’ll know this won’t be left alone 😂

  21. Not seen that before, I would try removing the fuse in the first instance, or disconnect the battery for 5 mins. The code is built into the APIM\BCM so it will reset itself fine. To quote the IT crowd "Have you tried turning it off and on again"

  22. Have you checked the glowplug fuse. It will be a big fuse in the engine bay fuse box, usually 60A. I had a blown fuse back in 2012 on my car. Glowplugs can be tested, a multimeter should read a short circuit from the terminal to the case, as the resistance is under 1 ohm on a good plug. Any higher reading would show a bad plug. They can also be powered up using jump leads from a car battery, but very, very great care is needed to avoid short circuits and burning fingers on the bright red hot end!!! I managed to power up one from a couple of bench power supplies, and burnt a dip in my workbench while taking a photo! A bit more in:

  23. Some very nice pics there, Tom. The Mk 1 Escort takes me back - though mine was only an 1100😢 New Focus ST looks good - you can't see the dent in the photo. (Edit - correction: spotted it!) Saw the prices for this the other day, £29,495 for the diesel, £31,995 for petrol, plus £1,100 on both for an estate. Seemed a bit steep, but it seems there will only be the one version, no ST-1 to give a lower "price from" etc. Also seems the lsd will be standard on petrol, but won't know for sure until Ford release the full price list/ordering guide and put it on the configurator. Still about £2,500 more than the Hyundai i30n Performance, though, and about £500 above a Civic Type-R.

  26. Given the sloped angle of the rear window of the mondeo; would you miss the wiper if it wasn't there? I'd like a mondeo but I don't like the rear wiper, Guide: I've de-wipered my focus & also won €100 from eFlow for sharing the idea complete with picture as a cost saving tip for maintaining your car; saves me €32 per service at the dealership as they cant bill me for replacing the blade 👍 Won a €100 Circle K voucher 😂 provided me with many Smiles per Gallon

  28. Just to be pedantic you actually programmed the PATS system to recognise the immobiliser chip and the central locking to recognise the remote codes. I'll get my coat . . . . .

  29. It certainly seems to have risen more than you could explain just by inflation - probably because of all the compo claims - people now will try and claim for a broken fingernail. My first insurance was £20 for a 10 year old 850 MIni, third party only, which equates to about £325 today, I think. It still seemed a lot to me at the time on £9 a week😀

  30. We had friends round and score boards and a sweepstake. It's just a bit of fun, you have to just smile at it. Being in Eurovision has nothing to do eith geography, it is countries that belong to the European Broadcasting Union.

  32. I considered that but overall I was happy enough to keep it. There are some great aspects to the Ford Direct scheme like the 2 year Ford Assistance etc so after my experience with a non-franchised dealer (Honda) selling me a 2017 Fiesta that had been serviced with the wrong oil it gave me more confidence.

  33. Yes, one of mine was a bit under par (some dodgy touching up and a strange steering wobble) so I did the 30 day exchange. The other car was absolutely spot on in all respects.

  34. Only lightly, really is a horrible engine! Have been in a 1.9 SDI Polo as well which was only slightly less horrid! Thank god non-turbocharged diesels are pretty much thing of the past now.

  35. To be honest I don't understand how young people today afford the cars they have. My first car was a 10 year old 1.1L Peugeot 205 when I was 19. These days (how old do I sound?) people are coming on here asking for advice about buying Fiesta ST-Line's as a first car. Then you get all the modified Corsas etc. How much do all those mods and insurance premiums cost? You're at uni - you'll get a good job and be able to afford nice cars too (although your current car is already nicer than my first car)

  36. As Australia (not part of Europe or the EU last time I looked) was in it, apparently not!🤔

  37. Quite a few of the ones who do that sort of thing are under the influence of drink/drugs though. They meet up in car parks then they drive like complete tools down the roads often well in excess of the speed limits doing handbrake turns etc which is a hazard and dangerous driving. A lot of them don't declare mods because they can't afford the insurance premiums, especially when they are under 25, it's their first vehicle and they have only recently passed their tests. I know my local RPU has a big issue with youths modifying their cars and invalidating insurance because they are undeclared and that they have really clamped down on it.

  38. I'm aware this may be a sensitive question yet I'm interested to know; is this or was this the UK's last year of competing in the Eurovision? Do you have to be part of the European union to compete?

  40. I think Oi may not quite pass the censors somehow (btw love that song). Eurovision has always been more of a political thing rather than a music contest anyway, if other countries don't like you (no matter how good the song) then you have no chance. So that's us stuffed for a very long time. [emoji37] Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)
