dlc
Hi guys, new to this forum as I've just bought a focus st170. Like the car although it's clearly got a few issues! Firstly the biting point on the clutch is quite high. I have read this is quite normal for focus's. I've tried 4th and 5th gear starts and the car stalls as it should! I've notive the clutch slips when accelerating in higher gears ie revs go up but speed doesn't. I've had a few quick cars in the past (Z4M, M3 etc)so I wasn't expecting a rocket, but the car doesn't feel quite as quick as I would hope! Any ideas what work will be involved to fix this? Will it just be a new clutch? Read a little about flywheels also, will they both need doing? Hoping to get away with a new clutch to fix things! Thanks in advance. dlc
clutch can be high, but then again it shouldnt be too high. How many miles has the car clocked and has it had a clutch replacement in its young life? Wouldn't say it's too high, just higher than other cars I've owned. Like I said I've done the 5th gear start with hand brake on and it stalls as normal. Th car has done 70k. Full history but don't know about the clutch! jeebowhite
Its done well on the original clutch, so could be you want a new clutch kit. with 70k of miles racked up on a car designed to be fast, you can guarantee previous owners will have slipped the clutch. No doubt its in good health but it could be in better health! it depends if you want to chance the extra money!
